Bengals TE Tyler Eifert worked on both sides of the line and in the slot on the team's first day of rookie minicamp on Friday. He's already noticing similarities between Cincy's offense and the one he ran at Notre Dame. “A lot of the things I’m learning are a lot of the same plays we had in with two TEs — move me around in different positions,” he said. “Today I was out in the slot quite a bit. I think I’m picking it up pretty fast.” A big, fluid athlete, Eifert is capable of making an immediate impact in the passing game. Of course, fellow TE Jermaine Gresham and stud WR A.J. Green will demand their fair share of targets. Eifert figures to be too inconsistent to be a fantasy starter in 2013. But he'll

The Bengals showed they are not above being trendy by spending a first round pick on Notre Dame Tyler Eifert despite already having Jermaine Gresham on the roster. Now comes the matter of implementing effective two-TE sets. During the team's mini-camp, just like he was with the Golden Domers, Eifert is lining up just about all over the field. "A lot of the things I'm learning are a lot of the same plays we had in with two tight ends mdash; move me around in different positions," Eifert said on Friday. "Today I was out in the slot quite a bit. I think I'm picking it up pretty fast."

Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden said he believes TE Tyler Eifert can be a difference-maker for the team if he becomes more of a blocker. Gruden said the team will see what kind of blocker Eifert is during their rookie minicamp and work with him from there.
Huddle Up: Improved blocking would likely keep Eifert on the field over Jermaine Gresham in one-tight end sets; he's already being pegged as the "move" tight end in two-TE formations. Expect the Bengals to find ways to use Eifert to take advantage of coverages geared towards stopping A.J. Green.

Bengals OC Jay Gruden told the team website that RB Giovani Bernard will compete with 6th-round pick Rex Burkhead for the 3rd-down role. Gruden said Bernard brings 3-down size and skills but doesn't plan to use the 2nd-rounder as a workhorse. "He can be a 10-15 carry guy, catch eight balls, whatever it is, to help us out and make us more diverse," Gruden said. Burkhead is a nice-looking player, but we don't actually expect him to push Bernard aside. The former Tar Heel can provide the offense a dynamic presence it has long lacked outside of WR A.J. Green. Bernard doesn't appear likely to lead the team in carries as a rookie, however. Of course, that shouldn't keep you from drafting him in the middle rounds.

When it comes to rookies conventional wisdom no longer applies. With a few notable exceptions, most first-year players, particularly quarterbacks, were once thought to be multi-year projects, the Steve McNair approach – observe, learn and wait.
But in this day and age where instant gratification is constantly sought after, time isn’t of the essence. Several players picked in April are immediately pressed into competitive situations where often times they emerge as the go-to option, evident in the rapid ascension of guys like Robert Griffin III, Doug Martin and Josh Gordon, to name a few, last year. Because nuances from the college game are commonplace

Owners who invested an exorbitant pick in china doll Darren McFadden last year are still sorely regretting it. Chucking hard inflatable balls at his dome, Mike Rice-style, would be an acceptable form of cathartic release.
When not sidelined for the 10 millionth time with a lower body ailment (last year a high-ankle sprain), the disappointing rusher appeared overly timid, lacked explosiveness and was generally terrible, an ill-fit for Greg Knapp’s zone-blocking scheme. Shockingly 82 of his 216 rushing attempts (37.9 percent) went for one, zero or negative yards. His overall yards per carry average (3.3) was the lowest of his career, by a wide margin. According to

Andy Dalton quietly put together a very nice year in Cincinnati throwing for 3,669 yards and 27 touchdowns. Now Dalton doesn’t get much praise from the fantasy world, but I believe Dalton can be a low QB1 or high QB2 in 2013. Who do you think throws A.J Green all of those touchdowns?
Don’t forget Dalton is only entering his 3rd year, and the connection between Green and Dalton will continue to grow, as they were drafted in the same class. Dalton isn’t going to go too high in the draft, and could potentially put up QB1-esk numbers for you. If you find yourself drafting RBs and WRs early and you feel like you missed the ship when it comes to starting QBs check out Dalton, as he could easily be a top 10 QB next year.
Getting a healthy Mohammad Sanu will help Dalton’s numbers out and Cincinnati should add some offensive talent in the upcoming rookie draft. Dalton had his fair share of stellar performances during the year, putting up 20 plus points 6 times last year. Look for Dalton as a bail out QB for your team, and a surprise QB1. He’s a great backup and bye week filler, and should be the starter in Cincinnati with an elite weapon in A.J. Green for a long time to come.

So there may not be a worse time to draft a 2013 fantasy league than today, before the final week of the 2012 regular season has even kicked off. We still have dozens of injuries ahead, plus the usual off-season player movement and coaching changes. And then there's April's NFL Draft.
Thus, we begin this feature with an important warning: DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME.
It's fine for me to conduct a one-man 2013 mock in 2012, of course, because I'm a fully licensed fantasy professional. Ordinary citizens shouldn't think about drafting a league for another seven or eight months, however. Today's exercise is simply a guessing game, based on an incomplete picture of the league. Bengals HC Marvin Lewis says he won't rest his starters in Week 17, despite being locked into the #6 seed. Lewis rested his starters 2 previous times, and Cincy was eliminated in its first playoff game on both occasions. "How'd that turn out for us?" Lewis asked rhetorically. "I think it's important for our team to play well. We are going to play to win the football game. [We're playing for] improvement." Andy Dalton, BenJarvus Green-Ellis, A.J. Green, and Jermaine Gresham will be safe to use in fantasy this weekend.

Just two weeks ago, we were all concerned that Dez Bryant's season might end before the fantasy playoffs began. He was meeting with hand specialists, contemplating surgery on his fractured left index finger.
Today, however, Dez is looking like the MVP of the fantasy postseason. He embarrassed the Saints defense on Sunday afternoon, hauling in nine balls for 224 yards on 12 targets, finding the end zone twice. Both of his scores were 58-yarders, with corner Patrick Robinson getting roasted each time.

If you happened to draft Brandon Lloyd this past summer like I did, you’ve probably been shaking your head when watching the Patriots play on prime-time television the past two weeks as the veteran has looked like a Pro Bowl star. In that time Lloyd has been targeted a whopping 25-times, hauling in 17-receptions for 279-yards a score and even picking up a fumble recovery in the end zone for another touchdown.
Problem is, many of you didn’t have him in your lineup let alone on your team at this point, after Lloyd struggled throughout the season and was demoted out of two receiver sets against the Dolphins and Colts.

Cincinnati Bengals WR Marvin Jones might be in line for a big game in Week 16 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers blanketed WR
A.J. Green in the first meetings, limiting him to one catch. Jones said Tuesday, Dec. 18, he isn't sure if the Steelers are going to blanket
Green again, trying to let others beat them, but he is ready. 'It's a possibility,' Jones said. 'We're not in this league by default. We can make the plays.'

While many have made the case for Michael Crabtree being a first round bust, it appears the 4th year receiver is starting to come into his own. Early signs in the off-season suggested this could be a breakout year for Crabtree, if for no other reason than he finally overcame his problematic foot issues.
For the first-time Crabtree actually played in a preseason game this August, and thankfully his foot ailments appear to be a thing of the past.
The best thing that ever happened for Crabtree was Alex Smith’s demotion in the middle of the season. It’s not that Crabtree and Smith weren’t having success together, but more that Colin Kaepernick has the

Pittsburgh Steelers CB Ike Taylor (ankle) will miss his third straight game in Week 16. CB Keenan Lewis (hip) is expected to play against the Cincinnati Bengals, although he'll be limited in practice early in the week. CB Cortez Allen (groin) is also expected to return to practice this week after missing Week 15.
Huddle Up: This is nothing but good news for A.J. Green's fantasy's owners, who saw the WR limited to a career-low one catch (an 8-yard scoring grab) in the team's first meeting in Week 7.

Finally! Dynasty owners like myself with David Wilson on their bench have been waiting for the ultra talented rookie to receive an opportunity to show case what he can do. Earlier in the season he had a long touchdown run against the Browns, but because of early fumbling issues and pass protection concerns, Andre Brown moved past Wilson on the depth chart.
Brown was placed on injured reserve a few weeks back and the Giants countered with Craig Lumpkin as added depth. Lumpkin saw a few snaps against the Redskins, but the Giants decided to use Ahmad Bradshaw as the teams feature back again as a counter to the Brown’s injury, rather than working Wilson in as a
