The two So-Cal clubs were playing a nondescript 2-1 game in the bottom of the sixth Thursday night when everything exploded. Zack Greinke hit Carlos Quentin with a 3-2 pitch and Quentin took exception, charging the mound. Greinke busted his collarbone in in the ensuing melee and could miss 6-8 weeks. Quentin was ejected

Alright, amigos, let's get to the prices on the mound. Here's how I rank the Top 90 arms or so for the 2013 season, 5x5.
Players at the same prices are considered even. Don't worry about the numbers in an isolated sense; what matters is how the players relate to one another. I reserve the right to tweak the list as the evening goes along. Win the debate, win the rank.
And remember the golden rule: a player doesn't gain 15-20 percent of bonus value simply because you roster him.
I'm sure there's more to the preamble but it's not coming to mind right now. I'll add commentary after the US and Mexico are done on the pitch. Make the jump, jumper.

After Frank McCourt sold the Dodgers for a record setting $2 billion – by far the most ever for a sports franchise, and when it comes to MLB, the next highest was $845 million in 2009 for the Cubs – to a group led by Magic Johnson (and former baseball executive Stan Kasten and the Guggenheim Partners), Los Angeles became hyper aggressive, taking on payroll as if money wasn’t an object. It started in June, when the team signed Cuban prospect Yasiel Puig to a $42 million contract, which was $6 million more than was given to Yoenis Cespedes, who was almost unanimously regarded as the better player by most scouts. But that was just the beginning, as the Dodgers then traded for Hanley

Kenley Jansen has emerged as one of the best closers in baseball, but the 24-year-old converted catcher might not pitch again this year because of an irregular heartbeat.
Jansen is set to have an examination on Tuesday. If he's cleared, he can pitch again as soon as Friday. If he's not, he'll miss at least four weeks like he did when this issue popped up last season.
Obviously, the primary concern here is Jansen's health and career. It would be a shame for such a young, talented player to have anything happen to him. In the fantasy world, there's also concern about what to do if you were counting on Jansen down the stretch.

Pitcher Profile: Trevor Bauer Makes Quick Work of the AAA Dodgers
Source: Razzball by grey@razzball.com (Grey Albright)
After an up-and-down four-inning debut, then a real stinker against the Padres, Arizona’s prized pitching prospect Trevor Bauer was in dire need of a positive outing in his third start heading into the All-Star break. With the Diamondbacks hoping to push for a Wild Card berth, and with Bauer on top of many pitching prospect lists, he has a lot of eyes on him to deliver a solid rookie season.
Having a strong year ERA wise in AAA (2.82), Bauer was having continual issues with his command yielding a 1.43 WHIP and a 4.43 walk rate through 44.2 innings.
So what kind of second half should we expect from Bauer? Surely owned in most keeper and dynasty leagues, is Bauer trustworthy enough to make an impact in

Welcome to the 1st annual Razzball All-Star squads! These squads disregard any selections made by fans, Tony LaRussa, and Ron Washington as their focus is skewed towards a player’s value to their actual employer vs. potential 2012 fantasy baseball teams.
We’ve got four All-Star squads – all leveraging the $ estimates in our Player Rater. This is based on 12-team mixed leagues using the ESPN standard roster format:
Performance All-Stars – These are the most valuable players for fantasy baseball in the 1st half of 2012.
Value All-Stars – These are the best values based on the difference of their season-to-date value vs.

The same thing happens in every March draft. You walk away from the computer or the war room and think "we drained the depth pretty well. The waiver wire is going to be skank all year."
And then the unknowns come out of nowhere, the surprise stories, the fun pickups and the lucrative pickups. And on my clipboard, I like to call them The Wiggys.
Ty Wigginton, our patron saint, represents so much that's good and right about fantasy baseball. He had a 24-homer season with Tampa Bay in 2006, a spike pretty much out of nowhere. He routinely qualifies at a bunch of different positions. He's usually out there on the wire, ready to go for free when you need him. And sometimes it's more fun to win your

The Fugs (Epic Beardmen Division) regained top spot in the Master standings, moving up 5 positions with help from a pitching staff that recorded a 1.70 ERA and 0.91 WHIP. Yovani Gallardo and Madison Bumgarner paced The Fugs, while Gio Gonzalez added 2 wins despite throwing only 11 innings and giving up 8 runs. captainpyper (RCL 3) dropped to 2nd, 2 points back, while last week’s co-leader MattTruss223 (Rube Waddell’s Shiny Objects — Magnificent Mustachioed Men) fell to 6th place, tied with NYC Matthole (Ones are GOOD, right?), who rose 9 spots. Are you two-start pitcher streaming? If not, you’re likely missing out on a great opportunity to increase your weekly strikeout total, win total, log more innings pitched, and potentially lower your team ERA and WHIP in head to head leagues that allow daily lineup changes.
Some leagues don’t allow such activity by limiting the number of player adds you can make each week. However, if you can find a loophole in your league settings and add/drop pitchers all season long – you’re going to have a great chance to win the whole thing come September!
For the fifth consecutive season, we

In the aftermath of last week's Eovaldi-Archer-Grimm debacle (17 earned runs and counting), and in consideration of my pathological inability to bench Hector Noesi in A.L.-only, I'm currently serving a five-day suspension from pitching analysis. Self-imposed. No appeals. Have to sit myself down, watch video, make some adjustments. If you need pitching pick-ups, go here. I'm not going to hype anyone in today's introduction, because I'd hate to damage yet another young pitcher's career.
I will, however, arrange all of next week's two-start pitchers according to their relative safety and usefulness. Because someone

Of all the Shuffle Ups, this is the one that really matters. Today we tackle the starting pitchers, the ultimate fluctuation stock.
Usual shuffle rules apply. Assume a 5x5 rotisserie league, this year only. The rankings reflect how I'd attack a start-fresh league that begins right now. Players at the same price are considered even, and don't obsess over the actual dollar figure: what matters is how the players relate to one another.
I'll add comments later in the day and tweak the rankings a little bit. Your intelligent and respectful disagreement is always welcome, but make sure you include some reasoning. Further the conversation. Be good to the room. Be good to yourself.
