We know the Browns aren't sold on Brandon Weeden, and we've heard that he will have to compete against backup Jason Campbell in training camp just to be the Week 1 starter. But just in case you thought the Browns were bluffing, here's an update from Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer to show you that they aren't.
quot;Backup quarterback Jason Campbell will be given a legitimate shot to beat out Brandon Weeden for the starting job, and the competition between the two is more than just lip service," Cabot wrote Friday. FANTASY ANALYSIS: I would like to see what Weeden can do in a Norv Turner-led offense with Trent Richardson, Josh Gordon,
Greg Little, Davone Bess and Jordan Cameron at his disposal. That's quite a supporting cast

The draft has consumed all football fans over the last three days, but two fantasy-relevant trades went down Friday while everyone's eyes were focused on Radio City Music Hall.
The Jets sent a fourth-round pick to the Saints for running back Chris Ivory, and the Browns acquired Davone Bess from the Dolphins. To finish that deal, the Browns and Dolphins swapped fourth-round picks, the Browns sent a fifth-round pick to Miami, and Miami sent a seventh-round pick the other way.
Both players also inked new deals with their new team. Ivory signed a three-year contract worth $10 million, and Bess signed a three-year extension through 2016. FANTASY ANALYSIS: Ivory becomes the Jets' top running back right away. He was always productive in limited

The Cleveland Browns acquired WR Davone Bess from the Miami Dolphins Friday, April 26. Cleveland sent their their fourth- and fifth-round picks to Miami for Bess and the Dolphins' fourth- and seventh-round picks. Shortly after the trade, Bess received a three-year contract extension.
Huddle Up: Bess will provide a nice slot target while Josh Gordon and presumably Greg Little work the outside. Bess had become superfluous in Miami; he'll be a welcome addition to the Browns' passing game in Cleveland, albeit one with limited fantasy value.

Free-agent WR Seyi Ajirotutu, WR Legedu Naanee and CB Chris L. Rucker are participating in the Cleveland Browns' minicamp this week on a tryout basis.
Huddle Up: Both Ajirotutu and Naanee are familiar to Norv Turner and Rob Chudzinski from past stops, so they could provide receiver depth in Cleveland if they show well this week. However, with the Browns somewhat unsettled at quarterback and with Josh Gordon and Greg Little set as starters, the odds of either Ajirotutu and Naanee making a fantasy impact are long.

Browns WR Josh Gordon expects a full offseason to help him quite a bit heading into his 2nd year in the NFL. “It’s a tremendous difference,” he told the team website. “Having the advantage of knowing the plays and knowing the style of offense coming into it months in advance as opposed to a few weeks of training camp and going right into the preseason, it’s a huge difference. It definitely will transition into the season a lot smoother than it did last year." Gordon enjoyed a terrific rookie year -- 50 catches, 805 yards and 5 TDs -- considering his circumstances. He arrived in Cleveland shortly before training camp via the supplemental draft and coming off a year away from football. He joined an offense run by a

The Browns have signed WR David Nelson. The former Bill turned in a promising 2011 campaign, tallying 61 catches, 658 yards and 5 scores. A torn ACL ended his 2012 season in September. Cleveland must feel comfortable about his rehab progress, though. Nelson is unlikely to overtake Josh Gordon or Greg Little for a starting spot, but we like his odds of winning the #3 WR job. That, of course, wouldn't be enough to make him a fantasy factor.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Browns have added former Bills wide receiver David Nelson on a one-year deal. Nelson, who tore the ACL in his right knee in the 2012 season opener against the Jets, caught 61 passes for 658 yards and five touchdowns with Buffalo in 2011. The 26-year-old is likely to become Cleveland's top slot receiver. FANTASY ANALYSIS: It's not a great signing for Nelson's fantasy value since he probably won't be anything more than the No. 3 or No. 4 option in the Browns' passing attack. But it's a quality, cheap pickup by the Browns. With WR Josh Gordon, running back Trent Richardson, and tight end Jordan Cameron, this is an offense full of potential. Earlier this week, Black Monday was a dark day for many familiar faces. In total, seven head coaches received their walking papers, including franchise mainstays Andy Reid, Lovie Smith, Norv Turner and Ken Whisenhunt. Other less tenured coaches, like Pat Shurmur and Chan Gailey, also failed to avoid the axe.
In an instant gratification society where it’s all about what you’ve done for me lately, sour seasons, especially over consecutive years, are intolerable in the NFL. With every overthrown pass, every botched snap, impatient fanbases grow increasingly hungry for Ws, desperate to watch their heros kiss the Lombardi Trophy.
Fantasy owners, particularly those in keeper leagues, are wired similarly. If

Time to get in character for another week. The ranks in this exercise are not Week 10 fantasy ranks; instead, we're trying to arrange the players based on what we expect from Weeks 10-16. Assume a standard scoring format (non-PPR), and remember the golden rule: no one gains 10-20 percent of bonus value just because they're on your roster.
That established, if you logically construct a sound argument, I'm all ears. I'll add comments, and tweak a rank or two, as the night goes along. It's quarterbacks and wideouts this week; running backs and tight ends get the floor next week.

While Matthew Stafford’s numbers are solid in the fourth quarter of games, it’s probably time for fantasy owners to pull the plug on him starting in your lineup as he continues to look horrible in the first three quarters. The Lions are struggling to move the football and what’s more alarming is their inability to find the end zone.

Cleveland Browns WR
Greg Little promised to tone down his celebrations after the team is off to an 0-3 start this year. 'If we were 3-0, I think everybody would be doing the pose,'
Little said. 'But we're 0-3 so everybody does not want to see that. I'll change it and just give the normal point with one finger, I guess. Like everybody else does.'
Little was also seen staying on the field after his teammates left Monday, Sept. 24, working on catching passes from a JUGS machine.

Cleveland Browns head coach Pat Shurmur said he is contemplating replacing WR
Greg Little in the starting lineup.
Little dropped a third-down pass before halftime in Week 3 -- a play that would have went for a first down near midfield and extended the drive. 'We can't play a guy who's going to drop the football,' Shurmur said. 'But we have a young roster.'
Little was among the league leaders in drops last year. He also turned a catch into an interception by having the ball go off his hands in Week 1. Shurmur has also not been pleased with Little's post-catch celebrations.

After another drop this past Sunday, Browns WR Greg Little seems to be in danger of losing playing time. "Greg has got to work on catching the football more consistently," HC Pat Shurmur said on Monday. "We can't play a guy that's going to drop the football." Little already has 2 drops this season -- a year after putting a whopping 14 balls on the turf. With just 7 catches and 74 yards through 3 weeks, he can be dropped in most fantasy leagues.
