The new assignment on the Shuffle Up clipboard is the forwards, the men who drive so much of the fantasy equation. We're looking at the basic Yahoo! scoring categories here (goals, assists, power-play points, shots on goal, plus-minus, penalty minutes) and we're trying to project how they'll play out from this point forward. Position flexibility and scarcity also counts a small amount; in theory, it's a tie-breaker between similar commodities.

The 2011-12 NHL season is in the books; all that is left to close out the season is the NHL awards, which are on June 20, 2012.  With that in mind it’s time to announce the Fantasy Hockey Coach Fantasy Awards.  When looking at fantasy awards there is more to take into account than just goals and assists, many hockey pools use a ton of peripheral stats like power play points, shorthanded points, hits, blocks, steals and more.

When you talk about fantasy hockey with your buddies, it won’t take long till someone brings up how many goals Steven Stamkos has or how many assists Henrik Sedin has.  The discussion usually centers on goal, assist and point totals. However, the smart fantasy GM knows there are a few underrated stats that are extremely important.
