Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Todd Haley said the team sees RB Le'Veon Bell as a three-down running back. Haley said Bell was the top running back on the team's draft board.
Huddle Up: Bell will have an opportunity to be the Steelers' feature-back role, though he'll have to beat out Isaac Redman and/or Jonathan Dwyer for either the top spot or a lead role in a backfield committee. Obviously, Bell's fantasy value climbs the more he's on the field.

The Pittsburgh Steelers added RB LaRod Stephens-Howling to primarily be a kick returner, but he could also see playng time on third downs. He may have to compete with RB Baron Batch for a roster spot during training camp.
Huddle Up: The Steelers like Le'Veon Bell as an every-down back and have Isaac Redman as a potential third-down back as well. If Stephens-Howling's roster spot is dependent on his special teams contributions he should be in good shape, but it's tough to see him bringing much fantasy value beyond his return duties.

Steelers OC Todd Haley confirmed that the team is expecting rookie RB Le'Veon Bell to make an immediate impact. "Running back is a position, probably more so than most, that you have a chance to come in and make an impact," Haley said. "Obviously, there's a lot of work ahead of him. He's a young guy, but he's coming from a pro-style offense. A lot of the runs will be very similar to the runs that he was running. So I expect him to get into the mix and be a factor." Bell might not be the most talented RB in the draft class, but he landed in the best spot. He shouldn't have much trouble beating out RBs Jonathan Dwyer and Isaac Redman for lead back duties. There is plenty of room for improvement in the Steelers' backfield, and the hope is some of that improvement comes by way of second-round rookie running back Le'Veon Bell this year. Offensive coordinator Todd Haley recently said that Bell will contribute right away.

When it comes to rookies conventional wisdom no longer applies. With a few notable exceptions, most first-year players, particularly quarterbacks, were once thought to be multi-year projects, the Steve McNair approach – observe, learn and wait.
But in this day and age where instant gratification is constantly sought after, time isn’t of the essence. Several players picked in April are immediately pressed into competitive situations where often times they emerge as the go-to option, evident in the rapid ascension of guys like Robert Griffin III, Doug Martin and Josh Gordon, to name a few, last year. Because nuances from the college game are commonplace

The Steelers were rumored to be interested in Ahmad Bradshaw, but their interest level probably dropped precipitously following what they did in the second round of Friday's draft. The Steelers selected Michigan State running back Le'Veon Bell. FANTASY ANALYSIS: The Steelers were going to take a running back during the first half of this draft, we all knew that. This pick is a rather strange one for me, because when I look at the Steelers' backfield, I see an area that needs an infusion of speed, someone more lively than
Isaac Redman and Jonathan Dwyer. Bell is not that type of player. He is a hard-charging back who pushes piles with his strong lower body and is a fine receiver. But he can handle a full load of carries -- he took on 671

Running back is a position on the mind of every Steelers fan this weekend. Jonathan Dwyer and
Isaac Redman are just not going to cut it, so the Steelers will be looking to upgrade through the draft. But not only through the draft. According to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, the Steelers are quot;interested" in signing former Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw, who just recently received full clearance to participate in offseason workouts. He underwent surgeries on his feet during the offseason.
The Steelers also signed a running back on Friday, LaRod Stephens-Howling, to a one-year deal. FANTASY ANALYSIS: Stephens-Howling has third-down abilities and actually set a career-high in carries last season with 111. But he will see most of his action,

Huddle Up: Bradshaw has battled foot injuries for much of his NFL career, and the Giants have made plans to move on without him. He's be the starter in Pittsburgh, though history suggests he's not capable of holding up to a full feature-back workload so he'd likely be the lead back in an RBBC that also includes Isaac Redman and/or Jonathan Dwyer.

He provided the highlight of the year for Pittsburgh's fluctuating backfield in 2012 when he rushed for at least 100 yards in consecutive games. His 3.6 yards-per-carry average across his 6 appearances was his worst mark since his rookie year in 2008. Pittsburgh Steelers RB Jonathan Dwyer is atop the team's official
depth chart. RB Rashard Mendenhall, who had two fumbles in Week 12,
is now behind RB
Isaac Redman.
Huddle Up: Anyone who has seen more than a few Steelers highlights this season
can see that Dwyer has been the team's best back, and that's backed
up in the numbers as Dwyer leads the RBs in rushing yards (429) and
average per carry (4.4). Whether that will translate into usable
fantasy production remains in question as Redman and Mendenhall
still figure to get their share of touches.

Steelers RB Rashard Mendenhall is listed 3rd on the team's updated depth chart. Jonathan Dwyer is #1; Isaac Redman #2. It's worth noting because Mendy was atop the depth chart last week and got the start against the Browns. It looks like Dwyer will be first on the field this Sunday. It still figures to be a "hot hand" situation though. But between the demotion and last week's 4-carry, 6-yard effort, Mendenhall is nowhere near a fantasy option for Week 13.

On the Pittsburgh Steelers' official depth chart, running back Jonathan Dwyer is back at the top. Rashard Mendenhall was formerly No. 1, but two fumbles last week against the Cleveland Browns hasn't helped. In fact, between Mendenhall, Dwyer, Chris Rainey, and
Isaac Redman, the four backs accounted for six fumbles, four of them lost. Dwyer had nine rushes for 19 yards, Rainey (5-17),
Redman (2-7), and Mendenhall (4-6), as each back played miserably on Sunday. FANTASY ANALYSIS: Considering the Steelers lost five fumbles and three INTs, it is rather surprising they only lost by six points. Even though Dwyer is for now the featured back, no Steelers RB is worth starting without a healthy Ben Roethlisberger. Furthermore, carries are being
