Matt Ryan - Ryan could have extension by training camp
Source: The Huddle
Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan reportedly could sign a contract extension by the start of training camp. The Falcons want to retain Ryan for the long term and he wants to stay in Atlanta. The parameters are in place for a potential Ryan extension after Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers and Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco both inked new deals.Huddle Up: In 2012, Ryan hit career highs across the board in attempts (615), completions (422), yards (4,719) and TD passes (32) and notched his first fantasy top-finish (fifth with 384 points) as a result. With TE Tony Gonzalez putting off retirement, RB Steven Jackson joining the backfield and the potent WR duo of Julio Jones and Roddy White returning, the fantasy arrow -- and his

Darrelle Revis - Revis-to-Tampa trade finalized
Source: The Huddle
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have acquired CB Darrelle Revis from the New York Jets after he passed his physical. The Jets will receive a 2013 first-round choice (13th overall) and a conditional fourth-round draft choice in 2014. The conditional pick will become a third-round pick if Revis is on the Buccaneers' roster on the third day of the 2014 league year. Shortly after, Revis signed a 6-year, $96 million deal with his new team.Huddle Up: The daily drama and Revis rumor mill officially came to an end Sunday, as the Bucs finally made their move. It might just be spring, but fantasy football enthusiasts are always looking at rankings and predictions for the upcoming season. With a number of teams changing up personnel, the wide receiver position looks to be a bit unclear after Calvin Johnson. Unless something pops up, Johnson will be and should be the first wide receiver off the board. If you are looking for an elite wide receiver in 2013 though, where do you turn after that?

Roughly seven weeks ago the final seconds ticked off the Superdome clock. Confetti cascaded from the rafters. A champion was crowned. Baltimore fended off a late-charge by San Francisco to take Super Bowl XLVII. Its fans entered a perpetual state of euphoria. The rest of the pigskin community, however, mourned.
Tears streamed down wing-stained checks. Jerseys went into hibernation. Fantasy discussions around the water-cooler subsided. Life became unfulfilled.
The annual football famine was officially underway.

We knew Steven Jackson would be moving on from the Rams after spending his entire nine-year career in St. Louis. The destination remained unclear until Thursday when the the soon-to-be 30-year-old running back agreed to a 3-year, $12 million contract with the NFC South champion Atlanta Falcons. Jackson played all 16 games last season, finishing with 1,042 yards while averaging 4.1 yards per carry and scoring four touchdowns. The three-time Pro Bowl selection also hauled in 38 receptions for 321 yards. The Falcons were in the mix for a starting runner after recently releasing veteran Michael Turner. The Packers were also reportedly in the mix for Jackson's services. FANTASY ANALYSIS: We now may finally see what the powerful back can do on aHOT 2013 Dynasty WR Rankings

When he's done playing football, Randy Moss is preparing to enter the world of talent evaluation. Just a couple weeks after declaring himself the greatest WR in NFL history, Moss is weighing in on Tennessee's Kenny Britt. “Britt is a young receiver who can get in that A.J. Green, Julio Jones mix if he wants to, and does the things to make it happen," Moss opined. "But his is more mental than it is physical. I hope it works out for him because he is quite a talent. That guy could be special.” Moss is actually dead-on here. Britt has the size, speed, and overall athleticism to be an elite WR. But he's had trouble staying healthy on the field and out of trouble off it. He'll be a guy worth tracking closely this offseason.

Falcons OC Dirk Koetter signs 2-year extension
Source: Fantasy Football Toolbox
With so many openings for head coaches in the NFL, there seems to be a nearly endless amount of permutations of who might end up where. But one big name isn't going anywhere. The Falcons have signed offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter to a two-year extension, keeping him with the team through the 2014 season. In Koetter's first year in Atlanta, the Falcons finished the season ranked eighth and seventh in yards per game and points per game, respectively. Koetter helped quarterback Matt Ryan post career highs in passing yards, touchdowns and completion percentage. FANTASY ANALYSIS: In short, expect more of the same from this offense next season. The NFL Playoffs are now set after 17 grueling weeks of play! There are a ton of story lines to follow. Among the more intriguing are three rookie quarterbacks, one of whom is guaranteed to win a playoff game in their first year; a second year quarterback who took over in week ten; a Colt’s team who went from worst last year to a playoff team this year, riding an emotional high after the return of their head coach from a successful bout against leukemia; and a team that went from the favorite for a first round bye to the number three seed in a few short weeks.
These are the overall rankings for the playoffs. Some formats require you to choose from all the teams in the playoffs, others allow you to go week to week. These

Perhaps the dumbest thing a fantasy manager can possibly do is publish player ranks on a mainstream sports site on the morning of a draft. Definitely not recommended. Poor strategy, requiring a special combination of stupidity and hubris. Far from ideal.
Nonetheless, I'm doing it today. My first fantasy playoff draft is coming up in just a few short hours, and I'm publishing ranks in advance. (Again: Unwise). Obviously I'd prefer to post this thing much later in the afternoon, after the draft, but my schedule is pretty jammed. So there may not be a worse time to draft a 2013 fantasy league than today, before the final week of the 2012 regular season has even kicked off. We still have dozens of injuries ahead, plus the usual off-season player movement and coaching changes. And then there's April's NFL Draft.
Thus, we begin this feature with an important warning: DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME.
It's fine for me to conduct a one-man 2013 mock in 2012, of course, because I'm a fully licensed fantasy professional. Ordinary citizens shouldn't think about drafting a league for another seven or eight months, however. Today's exercise is simply a guessing game, based on an incomplete picture of the league. It's theoretical fantasy football. But
Falcons WR Roddy White doesn't practice, may still play Sunday

The Falcons are one of the few playoff-bound teams with nothing to play for this weekend. That means they might give their banged-up stars some more rest if they need it. At the top of that list sits wide receiver Roddy White, who has been bothered by a knee injury for a few weeks. He didn't practice at all this week and is considered a game-time decision for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers. He has played through the pain lately and shined in Week 16 against the Lions, catching eight passes for 153 yards and two touchdowns. FANTASY ANALYSIS: I think the Falcons should approach this game per usual with their healthy players. Many offensive coordinators had their head in the clouds again this season, evident in the pass-first mentality most teams portrayed. As a result, pass catchers, unsurprisingly identical to quarterbacks, experienced unprecedented fantasy success. In total, 19 wide receivers averaged at least 10.0 points per game in standard formats, up one from last year and four more than five years ago. The usual suspects dotted the landscape, but several newcomers (e.g. Randall Cobb and Eric Decker) made their mark as well. Source: Fantasy Football Xtreme by George Rev
It’s really amazing this guy hasn’t been in the MVP talks this year, leading his team to the best record in the NFC (13-2), and putting up gaudy statistics. Ryan has thrown for 4,481 yards, AND 31 touchdowns (both ranking 5th) Matty Ice has debatably the best receiving core in the league, scratch that they are the best in the league. They have the stud veteran receiver in Roddy White, the emerging superstar (superhuman) Julio Jones, a future hall of fame TE in Tony Gonzalez, and a quick change of pace receiving back in Jacquizz Rodgers. With all of these weapons how could he not be great? Ryan’s value moving forward should continue to rise, with him maturing and becoming an elite QB in the NFL. I predict he’ll have another big year in 2013, and have him ranked 6th behind RG3, Brady, Rodgers, Newton, and Brees. If Gonzalez decides to return next year, Ryan’s value will be even higher. Listen guys, he plays in a dome, he has a ridiculous arsenal of receivers, he’s young, and he’s clutch. Dare I say he even has a Brady-esk competitive fiery nature. If you’re lucky enough to have him on you’re team, hold on to him. His fantasy value will continue to improve.
Atlanta Falcons will play Week 17 "to win"
Source: Draft Sharks
The Falcons have locked up the #1 seed in the NFC. HC Mike Smith wouldn't directly address how much action his starters will see in Week 17. “We’re going to play the game to win," was all Smith offered. We're listen for more clues over the next few days, but we're tentatively expecting guys like Matt Ryan, Michael Turner, Roddy White, Julio Jones, and Tony Gonzalez to play about half of Sunday's game against the Bucs. We'll have our Week 17 projections for the Falcons and the rest of the NFL posted tonight.
Dez Bryant delivers again (and again), torching the Saints
Source: Roto Arcade by Andy Behrens
Just two weeks ago, we were all concerned that Dez Bryant's season might end before the fantasy playoffs began. He was meeting with hand specialists, contemplating surgery on his fractured left index finger.
Today, however, Dez is looking like the MVP of the fantasy postseason. He embarrassed the Saints defense on Sunday afternoon, hauling in nine balls for 224 yards on 12 targets, finding the end zone twice. Both of his scores were 58-yarders, with corner Patrick Robinson getting roasted each time.

If you happened to draft Brandon Lloyd this past summer like I did, you’ve probably been shaking your head when watching the Patriots play on prime-time television the past two weeks as the veteran has looked like a Pro Bowl star. In that time Lloyd has been targeted a whopping 25-times, hauling in 17-receptions for 279-yards a score and even picking up a fumble recovery in the end zone for another touchdown.
Problem is, many of you didn’t have him in your lineup let alone on your team at this point, after Lloyd struggled throughout the season and was demoted out of two receiver sets against the Dolphins and Colts.

While many have made the case for Michael Crabtree being a first round bust, it appears the 4th year receiver is starting to come into his own. Early signs in the off-season suggested this could be a breakout year for Crabtree, if for no other reason than he finally overcame his problematic foot issues.
For the first-time Crabtree actually played in a preseason game this August, and thankfully his foot ailments appear to be a thing of the past.
The best thing that ever happened for Crabtree was Alex Smith’s demotion in the middle of the season. It’s not that Crabtree and Smith weren’t having success together, but more that Colin Kaepernick has the

Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Roddy White did not practice Wednesday because of a knee injury. The eighth-year receiver has never missed a game in his career. On the off-chance that White does not play, Harry Douglas figures to start alongside Julio Jones. FANTASY ANALYSIS: White has had far more good games this season than bad. Most recently, he caught nine passes for 117 yards and a touchdown against the Carolina Panthers last week. Those of you that watched the Chargers play the Steelers on Sunday also know he has terrific balance and body control when going up in the air on 50/50 balls against a defender. In his third season Bryant was having an up and down campaign, until the last four weeks. In that time Bryant has posted 29 receptions for 475-yards and six touchdowns. Two of those games came against the Eagles and in the second game Bryant abused the Eagles secondary after the catch, physically running over and past them for two impressive scores.
