The Chargers are working 3rd-year WR Vincent Brown back in slowly, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. Brown missed all of last season with a broken left ankle. He says the ankle is back to 100%, and many around the team last December apparently believed he could have returned then. San Diego had no reason to rush him back, though, with no chance at the playoffs. Brown is taking occasional reps with the 2nd and 3rd teams. WRs Robert Meachem and Dan DePalma are working as the primary 2nd-team wideouts. Danario Alexander, Malcom Floyd and slot man Eddie Royal are running with the starters. The whole Chargers' WR situation will be among the more interesting to watch through training camp.

Philip Rivers was one of the most productive quarterbacks in the league from 2008 through 2010. He averaged 30 touchdowns and just 11 interceptions to go with about 4,300 passing yards. After a couple of down years, Chargers head coach Mike McCoy thinks Rivers can be that good again and that he can be even better in one department: completion percentage. McCoy told Sports Illustrated's Peter King that if Rivers trusts McCoy's system, a bigger diet of short passes will help Rivers complete 70 percent of his throws this season. Rivers' career high in completion percentage is 66.0. FANTASY ANALYSIS: Many of Rivers' 35 interceptions these past two seasons have come on heaves down the field, putting the ball up for grabs with no real hope of

Chargers HC Mike McCoy said WR Keenan Allen participated in "all the drills" at rookie minicamp on Friday. It's noteworthy because Allen has been hobbled by a bum knee for the past 6 months. He also had to have a previous ankle injury re-examined this offseason. It doesn't sound like either injury is an issue any longer. Allen should be a full-go for OTAs and training, where he'll battle Vincent Brown and Malcom Floyd for San Diego's #2 WR spot.

Chargers GM Tom Telesco praised rookie WR Keenan Allen's versatility. "The fact that Keenan at some points had played in the slot [at Cal]... is benefical to us," Telesco said. "He's got some versatility for us. He could play in the slot, or he could play outside." That versatility, in addition to his route-running skills and reliable hands, should help Keenan Allen make an immediate impact for San Diego. He'll battle with Vincent Brown, Malcom Floyd and Robert Meachem for the starting spot alongside Danario Alexander.

The Chargers spent a third-round pick Friday on a player who was thought to be a top-20 guy not too long ago. Concerns about Keenan Allen's knee and ankle injuries, and a report that he failed a drug test at the NFL Combine led to him falling quite far. The California wide receiver landed in San Diego, a team that is already stocked at receiver with Danario Alexander,
Malcom Floyd, Vincent Brown and tight end Antonio Gates. FANTASY ANALYSIS: At first glance, it certainly doesn't look to be a lot of room there for a rookie, even one with Allen's talents, to make much of an impact. He still hasn't fully recovered from knee surgery after tearing his PCL in October, but he should be 100 percent in time for training camp. Best-case scenario to

Chargers WR Robert Meachem was one of the bigger free-agent busts in 2012. Signed to a 4-year, $25.5 million deal, he managed just 14 catches all season. But new GM Tom Telesco is ready to give Meachem another chance. "I was actually watching the tape of him," Telesco said. "Early on in the year when he played a little more, he looked pretty good to me, so I'm excited to see him in OTAs, running routes, up close and personal and get to know him a little better." We like the Chargers' passing game to have a bounce-back season in 2013 under new HC Mike McCoy and OC Ken Whisenhunt. Meachem could be part of that. Danario Alexander figures to have a starting job locked-up, but the other spot is up for grabs between Meachem, Malcom

I've enjoyed the Danario Alexander run as much as anyone. I picked him up where I could, started him aggressively, blogged about him constantly. Until the Week 15 bagel, it was a fun and rewarding ride.
But in Week 16, a one-game season, there's no time for sentimentality and future speculation. If you don't like someone's chances at points this weekend, you cut the cord. And with

The Chargers have placed WR Malcom Floyd (ankle) on IR. He suffered the injury in last week's loss to the Panthers. M-Flo quietly racked up a career high 56 catches for 814 yards and 5 scores this season. He's currently sitting 27th among WRs in fantasy points. WR Robert Meachem figures to move back into San Diego's starting lineup with Floyd out, but he's nowhere near a fantasy option. Meach has topped 50 yards just once all season.

While many have made the case for Michael Crabtree being a first round bust, it appears the 4th year receiver is starting to come into his own. Early signs in the off-season suggested this could be a breakout year for Crabtree, if for no other reason than he finally overcame his problematic foot issues.
For the first-time Crabtree actually played in a preseason game this August, and thankfully his foot ailments appear to be a thing of the past.
The best thing that ever happened for Crabtree was Alex Smith’s demotion in the middle of the season. It’s not that Crabtree and Smith weren’t having success together, but more that Colin Kaepernick has the

Entering Week 15, Chargers receiver Danario Alexander was looking like a must-start fantasy asset. He'd just roasted Pittsburgh, the NFL's top-ranked pass defense, for 88 yards and two TDs. Alexander was coming off a five-game stretch in which he'd delivered 30 catches for 494 receiving yards and five scores. There were few obvious reasons to doubt him.
But then Sunday happened.
DX put up a goose egg in a critical week — zero catches, zero yards, zero fantasy points. He was targeted just three times. He dropped the first throw that came his way (though it wouldn't have gained more than 3-4 yards), the second was well-defended, and the third "target" was actually a throwaway, a ball that Philip Rivers buried in

The Chargers finally picked up a win and did so against a playoff caliber team, on the road. While Danario Alexander started off slow, he eventually had his way with the Steelers secondary picking up seven receptions for 88-yards and two touchdowns.
Alexander has done a terrific job in the short passing game, crossing routes and big plays down the field. Those of you that watched the Chargers play the Steelers on Sunday also know he has terrific balance and body control when going up in the air on 50/50 balls against a defender. The Raiders have struggled to run the football all year forcing Carson Palmer and the passing game to play well in order to remain competitive. With the way their defense has played of late and the Saints coming to town, you can bet Palmer is in for a day of possibly over 50 passing attempts and that means big things for Denarius Moore.
Moore struggled with hamstring problems this summer and came on slow this season as a result, but in the past five weeks Moore is seventh in the league in targets, with 22 receptions for 392 yards and four touchdowns. Time to get in character for another week. The ranks in this exercise are not Week 10 fantasy ranks; instead, we're trying to arrange the players based on what we expect from Weeks 10-16. Assume a standard scoring format (non-PPR), and remember the golden rule: no one gains 10-20 percent of bonus value just because they're on your roster.
That established, if you logically construct a sound argument, I'm all ears. I'll add comments, and tweak a rank or two, as the night goes along. It's quarterbacks and wideouts this week; running backs and tight ends get the floor next week.

The Bills have struggled to say the least against the run this year and the way New England uses there running backs, we should consider Shane Vereen as a flex option. Keep an eye on Brandon Bolden status through practice this week, but I have a feeling Vereen has earned the right to be the primary backup to Stevan Ridley, even if Bolden is healthy.
Even Danny Woodhead is worth a look as a flex, at least in PPR leagues because the Patriots are sure to build a big lead and use all three running backs. Vereen and Woodhead will also see action in the passing game, and Vereen trades off with Ridley in goal-line responsibilities.

Andre Johnson has failed to haul in a touchdown for five straight weeks. Fantasy owners have to be disappointed in Johnson’s numbers this year, but credit a stingy defense and a terrific running game as some of the reasons for Houston’s failure to give him more work.
Then again, Johnson has no less than eight receptions in each of his past three games, and had his second highest receiving total last week with 118 yards against the Bills.
While Johnson may not be the elite WR1 option he was in the past, he’s still a weekly WR2 play, even in standard leagues. Based on his recent workload in the offense, we should expect his touchdowns to come and

Updating a previous report, San Diego Chargers head coach Norv Turner said Friday, Nov. 2, that WR Danario Alexander will have an expanded role going forward. 'Danario's going to play. We're going to play him,' Turner said. 'He's going to be a big part of what we do. He earned that right last night.'
Huddle Up: Three catches for 61 yards usually isn't cause for a big celebration, but the Chargers have been looking for a wideout to step up alongside Malcom Floyd and Alexander just may fill the bill with Robert Meachem and Eddie Royal struggling with injuries and a lack of production.

Chargers WR Robert Meachem (hamstring) is inactive for tonight's game against the Chiefs. WR Eddie Royal is also out. Neither guy has been effective this season, but it leaves QB Philip with only Seyi Ajirotutu and newly-signed Danario Alexander behind top WR Malcom Floyd. Look for lots of Ryan Mathews and Antonio Gates.

In the world of spies, they mock what they don't understand. In the world of fantasy, we want to understand, so we mock.
Truth be told, this 220-pick exercise wasn't really a mock — it's a real thing. I assembled 10 of my flatliner roto friends (industry and non-industry folks included) and we're all standing behind our teams. While we won't do any maintenance to the rosters we drafted Tuesday night, we are keeping score and we are playing for a financial stake. If you can't go full out, why go at all?
We'll use best-ball scoring to determine the winners; everyone will have their best theoretical score assigned to them after each go-round. It's a total-points grab, there are no head-to-head games. We're using the

If you were one of those fantasy owners who took a shot on Matthew Stafford in the second round of your draft this summer, it’s been a disappointing season. Finally last week, Stafford put together the type of numbers we would expect from a quarterback that threw for over 5,000 yards and 41 touchdowns the year before and hopefully it’s the begging if a big second half.

Throw Robert Griffin's stat line completely out the window, as Washington receivers committed at least 10 drops, and that's no exaggeration. In a week full of an abnormally high amount of them, the Redskins were the worst, highlighted by this gem. It's not often you see a quarterback commit pass interference, but so was the case with RG3 on Sunday…Heath Miller is on pace to finish with fewer than 800 yards, but thanks to nine targets inside the 10-yard line (more than any other receiver in football), he has six touchdowns and has been the No. 3 fantasy tight end so far this year…Did you see Antonio Brown run backward for the final 20

San Diego Chargers RB Ronnie Brown led the team in receiving in Week 8 against the Cleveland Browns, hauling in seven receptions for 85 yards. WR
Malcom Floyd was the top wide receiver target with four grabs and 43 yards. No other wide receiver had a reception, although WR Robert Meachem did carry once for minus-6 yards.
