San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree suffered a torn Achilles tendon while participating in organized team activities on Tuesday. He will undergo what may be season-ending surgery. There has been no official word from the organization at this time. This injury places added pressure on the development of second year wideout AJ Jenkins and rookie Quinton Patton.
Mario Manningham and the recently acquired Anquan Boldin are the 49ers' most two veteran receivers at the top of the depth chart. FANTASY ANALYSIS: This is a big blow to an offense that already lacks proven players at the wide receiver position. Crabtree really seemed to develop a repartee with quarterback Colin Kaepernick in the second half of the season. At 25 years

San Francisco 49ers WR Michael Crabtree suffered a torn Achilles' tendon during organized team activities Tuesday, May 21, and will undergo what could be season-ending surgery.
Huddle Up: Crabtree's injury wipes out what was expected to be a promising fantasy season; it also has a ripple effect throughout the 49ers, starting with a ding to Colin Kaepernick's fantasy value. A.J. Jenkins and rookie Quinton Patton are the most likely candidates to replace him in the 49ers' lineup, as Mario Manningham is still coming back from a torn ACL and Kyle Williams is more of a return man than a receiver. Don't rule out the 49ers looking for a veteran option to complement Anquan Boldin; Brandon Lloyd is a distinct possibility.

The San Francisco 49ers could consider selecting more than one wide receiver in the 2013 NFL Draft because WRs Anquan Boldin,

Huddle Up: The Niners spent a first-round pick on A.J. Jenkins last year, but aside from Michael Crabtree they have little in the way of long-term solutions at wide receiver. They also have an abundance of picks this year and could package two or three to move up and grab a quality player in a draft class deep at wideout.

His absence leaves San Fran thin at WR. Michael Crabtree is locked into the #1 spot. But Randy Moss and Ted Ginn are free agents, and Kyle Williams is also recovering from a torn ACL. 2012 first-round pick A.J. Jenkins will have every opportunity to win a starting spot. Davis has yet to gain clearance to practice or play from an independent neurologist so there is nothing official out to suggest whether he will play or not. Mario Manningham (knee) is done for the season due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament and posterior cruciate ligament suffered in the Week 16 game against the Seattle Seahawks.
Huddle Up: The injury looked bad on the field Sunday, and the news was indeed bad Monday. Manningham was the Niners' second-leading receiver (41 catches for 449 yards and a TD) through Week 15 so look for his targets to be spread out among fellow wideouts Michael Crabtree and Randy Moss and TEs Delanie Walker and Vernon Davis (if he plays). San Francisco 49ers WR
Mario Manningham (shoulder) did not practice Friday, Dec. 14, and he is listed as doubtful for the Week 15 game against the New England Patriots.
Huddle Up: It looks as if Manningham will miss a second straight week, leaving more work for Michael Crabtree, Randy Moss and TEs Vernon Davis and Delanie Walker.

49ers WR Mario Manningham (shoulder) is doubtful for Sunday night's showdown with the Patriots. In his absence last week, WR Randy Moss played a season high 50% of the offensive snaps but still finished with just 2 catches on 4 targets. Michael Crabtree is the only fantasy option among San Fran's WR corps.
