Ingram said he is fine with sharing carries with Pierre Thomas and Darren Sproles.

Saints insider Mike Triplett believes RB Mark Ingram is set up for the most productive season of his career. That's not necessarily setting a lofty bar considering Ingram's career highs sit at 602 rushing yards and 5 scores. Triplett throws out 1,000 yards and 10 TDs as possibilities, though. He points to Chris Ivory's departure; the team's rededication to the ground game; and Ingram's full health as reasons to be optimistic. Still, we're struggling to get to those projections. The Saints will remain a pass-heavy offense, and Pierre Thomas and Darren Sproles are still around. New Orleans ran for just 1,577 yards as a team last year. And Ingram has yet to top 3.9 yards per carry as a pro. The 10 TDs are probably more in

New Orleans Saints RB Pierre Thomas said head coach Sean Payton wants more focus on the running game this season. 'There's going to be more focus this year on that ground game than any year. He said we've got to get back to running the ball, having 100-yard games non-stop. I can't wait. I'm excited and I know everybody else is excited,' Payton said.
Huddle Up: The Saints were a pass-first team with a four-headed RBBC in 2012, but with Chris Ivory traded for the Jets, it makes things more manageable fantasy-wise with Thomas and Mark Ingram as the top 2 RBs and Darren Sproles once again returning as the top pass-catching threat out of the backfield.

"There's going to be more focus this year on that ground game than any year," Thomas said. "[Payton] said we've got to get back to running the ball, having 100-yard games non-stop. I can't wait. I'm excited and I know everybody else is excited." After finishing 6th in rushing in 2011, New Orleans dropped to 25th last year. Their 370 total rushes ranked 29th in the league -- and were 61 fewer than they recorded the previous season. We can safely expect the Saints to run it more in 2013. When it comes to rookies conventional wisdom no longer applies. With a few notable exceptions, most first-year players, particularly quarterbacks, were once thought to be multi-year projects, the Steve McNair approach – observe, learn and wait.
But in this day and age where instant gratification is constantly sought after, time isn’t of the essence. Several players picked in April are immediately pressed into competitive situations where often times they emerge as the go-to option, evident in the rapid ascension of guys like Robert Griffin III, Doug Martin and Josh Gordon, to name a few, last year. Because nuances from the college game are commonplace

The New York Jets are have offered a sixth-round pick for New Orleans Saints RB Chris Ivory. They are likely to offer a fifth rounder, which may be enough to get him.
Huddle Up: In New Orleans, Ivory would be log-jammed behind Darren Sproles, Pierre Thomas, and Mark Ingram; in New York, he'd be the top candidate to start on a run-first team behind a pretty good run-blocking offensive line. If the trade goes through Ivory will pop up on fantasy radars, likely with too much hype to be considered a true sleeper candidate.

Running back Chris Ivory, who was a restricted free agent, signed his one-year, $2 million dollar tender offer from the Saints on Friday. But at this point, it would be a surprise if he plays for the Saints this season. ESPN New York's Rich Cimini reports that there are quot;strong indications" that the Jets will strike a deal to acquire Ivory. Cimini says the Jets would be willing to part with a fifth-round pick to get Ivory, but he admits it's unknown if the Saints will take that compensation. Cimini also doesn't mention any trade talks between the two teams. FANTASY ANALYSIS: Still, Cimini wrote on Twitter that he thinks a trade here is "likely." Eddie Lacy is a one cut downhill runner capable of receiving out of the backfield, though he was not called upon to fill that role in Alabama. He will get his yards between tackles so his value increases if he can avoid being drafted by a team using a lot of the spread or pistol offense. That won’t kill his fantasy value, just limit it. His 40 time at the combine could cause him to drop during the draft, but he’s a runner that will push the pile not run away from defenders. As long as he’s in the 4.5 range for his 40 he could go in the second round.
As the backup to Mark Ingram and Trent Richardson he’s started for only one year and doesn’t have a lot of “mileage” for a running back. The most telling thing for me is that he had his best games on the big stage; SEC Championship game (181/2) and the BCS Championship game (140/2).
In dynasty drafts Lacy is currently a first rounder. In redraft leagues we’ll have to wait to see where he goes but he looks like an RB2 at the moment given the depth of the position.

For all the success Doug Martin has had in his rookie season, fantasy owners had to be disappointed and a little shocked by his numbers against the Saints last week. Playing against one of the worst run defenses in the league, Martin appeared to be a shoe in for over 100-yards and at least one score, but the Saints built up a big lead in the first half, forcing the Buccaneers to stick with the passing game.

Darren McFadden returned last Thursday night after missing four games with a lower leg injury. His performance brought mixed results as he carried the football 11 times for 52-yards and hauled in two receptions for 12-yards and a touchdown.
McFadden had one good run of the night as he had a nice block on the edge, turned the corner and picked up 37-yards on the run. On that play it appeared McFadden was wincing in pain and he seemed to almost go into a jump when he had to cut back to his right throughout the night.

Saints running back Chris Ivory practiced as usual this week leading up to Sunday's showdown against the Giants. But something must have happened to him during Friday's session or later as he suddenly popped up on the injury report Saturday with a hamstring injury and is listed doubtful. Ivory is averaging more than five yards per carry this season, but he gained just four yards on three carries in Week 13. FANTASY ANALYSIS: Ivory was the Saints' best running back in the few games that Sproles had to miss due to a fractured hand. But with Sproles at 100 percent and being joined by

Credit this committee approach to the fact that the Titans made it easy (big lead by half time, horrible play from Jake Locker) on Houston, it probably made sense to ease Foster’s workload as the Texans have an all-important matchup against the Patriots this week. If things would’ve gone according to plan we could’ve seen Brown as a first-round pick last spring, instead he was a seventh-round pick that the Eagles took a chance on.
For all the problems Andy Reid’s team has had this year, one move that clearly paid off was bringing Brown to Philadelphia. Brown outplayed Dion Lewis and Chris Polk to run away with the backup role to LeSean McCoy and had earned more time on the field, before McCoy’s concussion a few weeks ago.

Houston's defense is no longer supposed to be a team weakness, but an asset. In fact, the Texans D entered the week ranked second in the NFL in yards-allowed (281.6) and third in points (15.9). Sure, they were destroyed by the Packers in Week 6, but they've still held six opponents to 14 points or less this season. Ever since the Green Bay loss, this defense has been absolutely dominant.
This isn't a team that finds itself in weekly shootouts anymore, as was the case early in the Gary Kubiak era. These days, Houston holds your offense to a low number and they steamroll your defense with Arian Foster. That's the formula. Game

Repeat: Darren Sproles is inactive for the Week 11 match-up with the Raiders.
Take evasive action, gamers. THIS IS NOT A DRILL.
Fox's Jay Glazer had the scoop earlier in the day, and now it's official: No Sproles.
Hopefully you've got another New Orleans back on your roster available for use. Chris Ivory and Mark Ingram have been terrific in back-to-back games, as we discussed earlier in the week. Oakland's defense has allowed the fifth-most fantasy points to RBs this

Saints RB Darren Sproles (hand) is INACTIVE for today's game against the Raiders. He practiced all week but has still been experiencing swelling in that hand. We're tentatively expecting him to return for Week 12. Meanwhile, RBs Mark Ingram, Chris Ivory, and Pierre Thomas will continue to share backfield duties.

The New Orleans Saints have declared SS Corey White, RB Darren Sproles, WR Greg Camarillo, DL Junior Galette, LB Scott Shanle, DL Tyrunn Walker, OT Zach Strief inactive for Week 11.
Our View: Sproles is officially inactive after Jay Glazer reported that he would likely be out right before the start of the early games. Pierre Thomas,
Mark Ingram, and Chris Ivory get a little bump, and Lance Moore looks like a better WR3/Flex play with Sproles out.

New Orleans Saints RB Darren Sproles (hand) said Friday, Nov. 16, that he is fit to return kicks, if needed, in Week 11 against the Oakland Raiders. He has been battling some swelling in his hand, and his status will be decided Saturday, Nov. 17.
Huddle Up: Signs point to Sproles having some sort of role Sunday, and if so, the Saints' RB situation will be a fantasy quagmire with Pierre Thomas, Mark Ingram and Chris Ivory also expected to share in the touches.

According to the New Orleans Times-Picayune, Saints running back Darren Sproles has had a good week of practice. He went through full practices on Thursday and Friday, and he would play against the Raiders if it was up to him. But that decision won't be up to him. Sproles will leave that in the hands of team doctors on Sunday. Sproles' once-fractured hand is still dealing with some swelling, and he is listed as questionable to play. FANTASY ANALYSIS: This is a tough situation for fantasy owners. Obviously, Sproles is the best running back that the Saints have, even if they don't use him like a standard RB. But he will basically be a game-time decision for a game that starts at 4:05 p.m. Eastern, and Saints coaches have already said that no

Chris Ivory and
Mark Ingram have been churning for Saints. But will Darren Sproles' potential return this weekend take things back to the old school? Or will N'awlins keep its new sound?
