Lions wide receiver Nate Burleson wasn't expected to be on a football field until July as he continued his rehab following surgery to fix a broken leg. He admits that he is not at full strength, but he was taking part in organized team activities earlier this week.
quot; It's as healed up as it's going to get," Burleson said of his repaired right leg, via The Detroit News. "The good thing about being out there is I am playing at a high level and I am not 100 percent. When it gets stronger and I get endurance back in it, I will be back to play with extreme confidence."
One Lion who is being held out of action is running back
Mikel Leshoure. Head coach Jim Schwartz didn't specify what Leshoure's injury actually is.
"He's battling some stuff,"

In every corner of the sports universe hard-to-explain anomalies push the boundaries of flukiness, crazy events that leave eyewitnesses with jaws dropped.
Fantasy football is no exception.
From Jerome Harrison’s trampling of Kansas City Week 14 2009 to Billy Volek’s unforgettable two-game stretch with the Titans in 2004 to an entire offseason week where neither Kenny Britt or Titus Young are incarcerated, unforeseen occurrences happen all the time, changing previously conceived notions about a particular player or team.

Lions rookie Theo Riddick spent time at both WR and RB during his 4-year Notre Dame career. The Lions believe that will give him a better shot to make an NFL impact. “When I saw Theo I thought he was a guy that offered a couple of different things," RBs coach Curtis Modkins said. "He’s played receiver, he’s played running back, so he’s been exposed to the run game, the pass game and he knows how to run routes. I’m real excited about the versatility that Theo brings us and I think he’s going to help.” Riddick racked up 120 catches with a 10.5-yard average for the Fighting Irish. He emerged as a primary ball-carrier this past year, going for 917 yards on 190 carries. Detroit lists him as a RB, but it's a crowded

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell may be the early favorite for the No. 3 running back job because he made plays when given the opportunity last season. Bell, though, will have to work on his ball security if he wants to win the job.
Huddle Up: With the FA signing of Reggie Bush, starter Mikel Leshoure and Bell take a step back on the depth chart, leaving little chance either will repeat their 2012 production aside from an injury to Bush. For Bell that means his 899 yards from scrimmage and 5 TDs could easily be cut in half in 2013.

In locker-rooms, on plasma screens or behind podiums, NFL head coaches typically spew one of three different types of propaganda when discussing expectations for newly acquired players – believable, outlandish and whatever the heck flies out of Jim Schwartz’s mouth.
Over the years, Schwartz has rewarded the football community with several golden nuggets, his comparison of Jahvid Best video clips to “porn” being the best. Well, it appears the Old Hyperbolator is at it again. Last week, he divulged to Lions fans running back Reggie Bush is poised for an enormous season.

We've already discussed Lions RB Reggie Bush returning to a role similar to what he played with the Saints. Well, the team website reports that HC Jim Schwartz expects Bush to catch 60-80 passes. Joique Bell led Detroit RBs with 52 receptions last season. That total sat just 7 catches behind TE Brandon Pettigrew to rank 3rd on the team. RB Mikel Leshoure caught another 34 balls, while he and Bell combined for 116 targets. Expect Bush to take over a lot of those. He twice reached 70 catches in New Orleans, including 88 in his rookie season. Bush looks like a strong RB2 in your PPR league, with RB1 potential. He should be able to deliver solid RB2 production across fantasy football formats.

Lions HC Jim Schwartz threw out the old "RB-by-committee" term when discussing the team's 2013 backfield plans. Schwartz said that Reggie Bush, Mikel Leshoure and Joique Bell will all "have a role" in the attack. "There will be plenty of touches on the offense for everybody," he added. It's easy to see Bush and Leshoure coexisting, with Bush as the "space" and pass-catching guy and Leshoure in a short-yardage, goal line role. We'll be keeping a close eye this summer on exactly how that split will work. Bell, meanwhile, figures to have his role drastically reduced. He hauled in 52 balls last year, but most of that action figures to go Bush's way in 2013.

Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz said this week that RB Reggie Bush will be used in a role similar to his days with the New Orleans Saints. In two seasons with the Miami Dolphins, he averaged 222 carries and 39 catches per season, but in five years in New Orleans, he averaged 105 carries and 59 receptions per campaign.
Huddle Up: This isn't necessarily good news fantasy-wise, as Bush would be down more than five touches per game from his recent work with Miami. Fantasy owners already are ceding Detroit's goal line looks to Mikel Leshoure, so Bush's fantasy value in Detroit would be down from what it's been the past two seasons as a Dolphin.

Although he averaged just 3.7 yards per carry in 2012, Mikel Leshoure will get another shot as the lead back this coming season. He was good around the goal line and in the passing game last year. The hope is that he'll re-gain some explosion as he puts that torn Achilles further behind him. "We still have high hopes for him and expect him to make a big jump." Leshoure's longest run all last year was just 16 yards. He averaged a sluggish 3.7 yards-a-pop. But remember that he tore his Achilles in August of 2011 -- an injury that's tough to return from. It's certainly possible that Leshoure regains some explosion as he puts that injury further in his rear-view mirror. This guy averaged 6+ yards per carry in each of his final 2 college seasons, with 7 runs of 40+ yards.

In a year where quarterbacks were consistently front page news, most rushing attacks took a back seat, further damaging the position's once sterling reputation. Though new points sources emerged (e.g. Alfred Morris, Doug Martin and Trent Richardson) and Adrian Peterson, less than a year from major reconstructive knee surgery, posted the greatest single season, regardless of position, in NFL history, RBs collectively suffered yet again. Just 12 rushers averaged 12.0 fantasy points or better, down from 16 in 2012 and 17 in 2011. Suffice it to say, with certified workhorses the lone exception, RB remains a position in transition. If you happened to draft Brandon Lloyd this past summer like I did, you’ve probably been shaking your head when watching the Patriots play on prime-time television the past two weeks as the veteran has looked like a Pro Bowl star. Problem is, many of you didn’t have him in your lineup let alone on your team at this point, after Lloyd struggled throughout the season and was demoted out of two receiver sets against the Dolphins and Colts.

Playing against one of the worst run defenses in the league, Martin appeared to be a shoe in for over 100-yards and at least one score, but the Saints built up a big lead in the first half, forcing the Buccaneers to stick with the passing game.
Don’t expect the same situation this week as Tampa Bay heads back home to play the Rams. Look for St. Louis to give them a competitive game, but the game scripts will play out the way we’ve grown accustomed to seeing from this team most of the year, and

Fantasy is a speculative game. Predict the future, and you look like a genius. Don't, and you're painfully human. Gazing into the crystal ball here's our view on 10 intriguing over/unders for Week 15.
C.J. Spiller, now locked in the pole position, total yards versus Seattle 109.5
Scott — OVER is the only logical way to play this. Chan Gailey is finally saved from himself, and even if the Seahawks control the game, Spiller can make hay as a receiver. Mikel Leshoure and Joique Bell split the running load pretty evenly in their Week 14 game against the Green Bay Packers.
Leshoure had 14 carries, and Bell carried the ball 12 times. However, Bell played more snaps (43) than
Leshoure (31). Both runners were equally effective;
Leshoure had effective runs on seven of his 14 tries, and Bell was efficient on six of his 12 carries, with an efficient run being a carry for four or more yards on first down, half the remaining distance on second down or picking up a first down on third or fourth down.
