Drafted by the Cowboys in the third round, Terrance Williams is the leader for Dallas' third receiver slot behind Dez Bryant and
Miles Austin. That is assuming the former Baylor product can hang onto the ball, a task he struggled with during portions of Saturday's minicamp, according to Todd Archer with ESPN Dallas. Then again, the 6-foot-2 target showed competent hands last season, hauling n 97 passes and 12 touchdown grabs last season. FANTASY ANALYSIS: Outside of Laurent Robinson and Kevin Ogletree each having 15 minutes of fantasy fame, the Cowboys have struggled finding a consistent WR3 option which is why they targeted one early in the draft. Obviously one day's worth off drops is a non-story and Williams certainly produced on the

Cowboys WR Miles Austin has dealt with nagging hamstring injuries for the past 6 years. He's working to solve the problem this offseason. “I’m definitely strengthening my hamstrings a lot more than I have been, doing a different routine, a couple of extra exercises each day on our leg days,” Austin said. “I’m just running hard and trying to compete at a high level at this time, that way it doesn’t shock your muscles when you actually do it for real.” We'll see if the new regimen keeps Austin healthy in 2013. He's still only 28 and finished 26th among WRs in fantasy points last year, despite those hamstring troubles.

Calvin Watkins of ESPN Dallas believes there’s “no guarantee” rookie Terrence Williams sticks as the #3 WR. Dallas snagged the Baylor product in the 3rd round last month. But he’ll need to wrangle the job away from Dwayne Harris. Williams is the superior talent, and comes off a senior season that witnessed him lead all of Division I-A in receiving yards (1,832). Expect him to win the job. A natural outside WR, he’d likely fill in for Miles Austin if his injury issues persist.

DeAndre Hopkins HOU (1st RD) -
While Cordarrelle Patterson may have the best upside from a raw skills perspective in this years class, it is Deandre Hopkins that is No.1 on my board. In Hopkins you have the most polished receiver in this class and he should be a slam dunk, week one starter opposite Andre Johnson.
At worst case Hopkins will be a bye week starting option in his rookie year and at best case he’s probably a weekly WR3 play. By next year we should see his floor at WR3, and his upside could blossom as far as a WR1 in PPR leagues, if the injury bug jumps up and bits Johnson again.

Dallas Cowboys rookie WR Terrance Williams was one of the biggest deep threats in this draft class. Since the start of the 2011 season, Williams has 39 receptions and 17 TDs on passes 20 yards or more downfield. Both numbers lead the FBS.
Our View: The Cowboys didn't have a great draft, but the addition of Williams is a solid one. Some in the scouting community have compared Williams to Torrey Smith (Ravens) because of his speed and ball tracking ability. He'll be WR3 for the Cowboys behind
Miles Austin and Dez Bryant in 2013. However, someday soon he'll be starting opposite Bryant.

When it comes to rookies conventional wisdom no longer applies. With a few notable exceptions, most first-year players, particularly quarterbacks, were once thought to be multi-year projects, the Steve McNair approach – observe, learn and wait.
But in this day and age where instant gratification is constantly sought after, time isn’t of the essence. Several players picked in April are immediately pressed into competitive situations where often times they emerge as the go-to option, evident in the rapid ascension of guys like Robert Griffin III, Doug Martin and Josh Gordon, to name a few, last year. Because nuances from the college game are commonplace

Jason Witten is signed through 2017, but he also turns 31 in May, so the Cowboys used a second-round pick on San Diego State tight end Gavin Escobar on Friday. They then focused their attention to the available wide receivers in the third round and selected Baylor's Terrance Williams. FANTASY ANALYSIS: Escobar should be thought of much like Martellus Bennett during his days in Dallas. He could be an elite pass-catching tight end, but as long as Witten is around, his fantasy value will remain very limited. Escobar nothing more than a deep stash in dynasty leagues right now.
Williams is a big-play threat, as evidenced by his 18.9 yards per catch average last season. Given the fragile state of

The deal keeps Romo in Dallas through the 2019 season, when he'll be 39. Say what you want about his performance in big spots, but Romo has been one of the best QBs in the game over the past 6 years. He ranks among the top 10 in passing yards, TDs and completion percentage during that span. He's also finished as a top 10 fantasy QB in each of his last 5 healthy seasons. With Dez Bryant, Miles Austin and Jason Witten all back, Romo should be in that mix again in 2013.

Answering speculation that Miles Austin could be a cap casualty, GM Jerry Jones told reporters that the WR will remain a Cowboy in 2013. Jones said that he likes the odds of Austin coming back healthy and producing better than those of finding an equal replacement in free agency or the draft. Austin played all 16 games last year but dealt with nagging injuries. He scored 1 fewer TD than he had in 10 games in 2011. Dallas seems likely to try to restructure Austin's contract to lower his $6.73 million base salary.

A report from DallasCowboys.com suggested that the team may need to renegotiate the four remaining years on wide receiver
Miles Austin's contract. The 28-year-old signed a seven-year deal back in 2010. He is scheduled to earn $6.732 million next year and releasing him before June 1 would potentially save $3.3 million against the cap. The report also details Austin's steady decline over the years but part of that should of course be attributed to the arrival of Dez Bryant. FANTASY ANALYSIS: Austin's nagging injuries and inconsistent play are a far-cry from where he was just a couple seasons ago. He will turn 29 next summer and perhaps has hit the beginning of the wall. So there may not be a worse time to draft a 2013 fantasy league than today, before the final week of the 2012 regular season has even kicked off. We still have dozens of injuries ahead, plus the usual off-season player movement and coaching changes. And then there's April's NFL Draft.
Thus, we begin this feature with an important warning: DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME.
It's fine for me to conduct a one-man 2013 mock in 2012, of course, because I'm a fully licensed fantasy professional. Ordinary citizens shouldn't think about drafting a league for another seven or eight months, however. Today's exercise is simply a guessing game, based on an incomplete picture of the league. It's theoretical fantasy football. But

Many offensive coordinators had their head in the clouds again this season, evident in the pass-first mentality most teams portrayed. As a result, pass catchers, unsurprisingly identical to quarterbacks, experienced unprecedented fantasy success. In total, 19 wide receivers averaged at least 10.0 points per game in standard formats, up one from last year and four more than five years ago. The usual suspects dotted the landscape, but several newcomers (e.g. Randall Cobb and Eric Decker) made their mark as well.
