Nate Burleson wasn't expected to be on a football field until July as he continued his rehab following surgery to fix a broken leg. He admits that he is not at full strength, but he was taking part in organized team activities earlier this week.
quot; It's as healed up as it's going to get,"
Burleson said of his repaired right leg, via The Detroit News. "The good thing about being out there is I am playing at a high level and I am not 100 percent. When it gets stronger and I get endurance back in it, I will be back to play with extreme confidence."
One Lion who is being held out of action is running back Mikel Leshoure. Head coach Jim Schwartz didn't specify what Leshoure's injury actually is.
"He's battling some stuff,"

Lions WR Nate Burleson is ahead of schedule in his recovery from last October's broken leg. "The great news is I'm healed up," he said. "I just got news from my doctors that the bone is good. I'm running and jumping three months ahead of schedule." Burleson should be a full-go for training camp. And the broken leg isn't something that should linger. He'll turn 32 in August but had shown no signs of slowing down prior to the injury. He was on pace for 83 catches last year -- and racked up 73 in 2011. Burleson is currently sitting #2 on Detroit's depth chart. He'll need to fend off WR Ryan Broyles once he recovers from last year's torn ACL. The Lions also figure to draft competition this week.

In locker-rooms, on plasma screens or behind podiums, NFL head coaches typically spew one of three different types of propaganda when discussing expectations for newly acquired players – believable, outlandish and whatever the heck flies out of Jim Schwartz’s mouth.
Over the years, Schwartz has rewarded the football community with several golden nuggets, his comparison of Jahvid Best video clips to “porn” being the best. Well, it appears the Old Hyperbolator is at it again. Last week, he divulged to Lions fans running back Reggie Bush is poised for an enormous season.

Not that such a result would create much shock given the player in question and the offense in which he operates, but still. Lions head coach Jim Schwartz said Tuesday that Reggie Bush quot;could potentially catch 60-70-80 passes" this season, via DetroitLions.com writer Tim Twentyman. FANTASY ANALYSIS: That's a lot of receptions, but it's not totally out of this world for Bush. He caught 88 passes as a rookie and then 73 passes in 12 games the following year. Yes, that was seven seasons ago, but Bush is still a top-notch receiving back, and the Lions are still going to throw it a ton. Consider two things:

A #2 WR is at or near the top of the Lions' wish list, according to insider Carlos Monarrez. They have the best receiver in the game in Calvin Johnson. But WRs Nate Burleson and Ryan Broyles are both coming off injury and are better off in the slot. Titus Young was supposed to be the long-term answer opposite Megatron, but those plans crashed and burned. Detroit has shown interest in free agents Darrius Heyward-Bey and Domenik Hixon. They could also add a WR in the middle rounds of the draft. Whoever lines as across the field from Johnson this year will carry intriguing fantasy potential as part of Detroit's pass-heavy offense.

The Lions have released WR Titus Young. The 44th overall pick of the 2011 draft definitely earned his ticket out of town. Young's misbehavior started this past spring when he punched teammate Louis Delmas. Then in a Week 11 game against the Packers, Young purposely lined up on the wrong spot on the field. He's also been late to team meetings and ripped the organization on Twitter. On the field, Young hasn't lived up to his 2nd-round billing. He's averaged just 12.2 yards per catch and struggled for consistency across his first 2 seasons. His untapped potential will assure him another shot in 2013 though. We'll see who's willing to roll the dice on him. As for the Lions, they'll be in the market for a WR again this offseason.

Huddle Up: This is a curious move for the Lions, who lost Nate Burleson for the season to a broken leg. It is not really worth adding Thomas at this point, but who knows—maybe a change of scenery to a locale with a great quarterback is just what the doctor ordered for Thomas.

Titus Young was a name kicked around as a potential breakout receiver for fantasy leagues this summer, but a irrelevant start found him on the waiver wire in many leagues. Young was supposed to be having a solid camp, and with Calvin Johnson drawing so much attention on the other side of the field, it only made sense Young would receive matchups he could win.

Matthew Stafford: With everyone down on Stafford, he is getting cheaper each week. All I keep hearing about is how bad Stafford is and how he won’t be a top ten quarterback this season. Nate Burleson’s leg injury hurts his value but if the Lions can learn how to hold onto the football and catch passes, he will put up great numbers towards the end of the season. I would wait until after the Lions play the Seahawks on Sunday, and then buy Stafford at his lowest value.
Rashad Jennings and Maurice Jones-Drew: If I had to guess, Jones-Drew will be out 3-4 weeks with a foot sprain (all injuries are different but DeMarco Murray also sprained his foot and he’s about to miss his second

It’s been a tough start for the Lions passing game and the loss of Nate Burleson won’t help. Then again, it might be just what this team needs as rookie Ryan Broyles will find more playing time. Broyles is an ideal slot receiver and should be a nice compliment to what Calvin Johnson, Titus Young and Brandon Pettigrew bring to the table.
While Matthew Stafford continues to struggle with his mechanics, Detroit is still dialing up over 40 pass attempts per game.
Before Burleson’s broken leg he received

As mentioned in a previous Lions' update, Detroit did not practice on Wednesday. If they did, wide receiver Titus Young (knee) and tight end Brandon Pettigrew (knee) would have been limited participants. Both players were listed as probable heading into their Week 7 Monday Night Football game against the Chicago Bears. Young caught six passes for 81 yards and Pettigrew added five catches for 37 yards. Each player is expected to play this week. FANTASY ANALYSIS: Now that
Nate Burleson has been placed on season-ending injured reserve, Young should see a spike in snaps and production. Pettigrew should also enjoy some added production as well. Many people, including myself, considered Young a sure-thing sleeper during the preseason, but it

It’s horrible to watch your stud running back go down with an injury. It’s especially horrible when you don’t own his backup.
But it’s incredibly joyful for all of us surfing the waiver wire.
After DeMarco Murray went down last week and opened the door for two potential running back pickups Felix Jones and Phillip Tanner, Maurice Jones-Drew injured his foot this week.
Rashad Jennings, who steps into his place, should be the hottest pickup of the week.
So let’s drop the chatter and get right to the pickups.
I won’t go into all the guys we’ve recommended in the past, but feel free to browse through

Detroit Lions WRs Titus Young and Ryan Broyles will split duties as the slot receiver with WR
Nate Burleson (leg) out for the rest of the season. TE Tony Scheffler is also an option out of the slot. Young caught a game-high six passes in Week 7 Monday, Oct. 22, after battling a knee injury in the first five games. Broyles caught the first three passes of his career Monday.
Huddle Up: Young (team-high 81 receiving yards) and Broyles (51 yards, TD) stood out Monday night in a game where the whole Lions' offense basically was a hot mess. However, things don't get easier this week with the Seahawks' defense coming to Motown.

Typically, our headliner in this feature is someone who finished among the weekly target leaders and, as a result, delivered an excellent fantasy line. We like to keep things positive around here. We're like a little ray of fantasy sunshine, basically.
Today, however, we're discussing a player who was peppered with targets in Week 7 — Mike Wallace led all receivers with 15 — yet who offered almost no help to fantasy owners (eight receptions, 52 yards). Wallace had three ugly drops on Sunday night against Cincinnati, plus he failed to snag a tipped ball that bounced off his body, in the end zone. Not great.
PPR owners probably weren't complaining too loudly about Wallace's output (unless they
