Washington Redskins FS Brandon Meriweather and SS Madieu Williams aren't considered the safest projected starters in the NFL. Head coach Mike Shanahan wanted to make his roster deeper, and he worked to grab plenty of talent at the position. Safeties
Reed Doughty, DeJon Gomes, Michael Hamlin, Tanard Jackson and Eain Smith will all be looking to move up the depth chart.

E.J. Biggers @ Panthers –
With Aqib Talib done for the year, E.J. Biggers should have a starting job for the final two weeks of the season. This has been a tough year for IDP help out of Tampa, but Biggers has proven to be a respectable play when given a chance this year. Expect Cam Newton to target passes his way, as was the case when Talib fell to injury the last time these teams meet and Biggers posted seven solo tackles.
Darian Stewart, Quintin Mikell @ Steelers –
Look for the Steelers to pound the rock up to 40 times this week, as they look to roll up an easy win at home against the Rams. This is good news for the Rams safety in terms of their odds for a very productive game, especially for Quintin

LaRon Landry heads to IR
Source: Draft Sharks
Washington SS LaRon Landry landed on IR Thursday for the 2nd straight season. He has been listed on the injury report lately with a groin problem, but the more significant issue seems to be his Achilles again. Landry will reportedly have surgery on the area soon. It was that same tendon that ended his 2010 season prematurely, but Landry opted to skip surgery at that point. He never seemed to make it all the way back and had the problem "flare" back up recently. Reed Doughty will be a full-time starter the rest of the way. He already ranks 3rd on the team in total and solo tackles this year despite moving in and out of the lineup. DeJon Gomes will also get plenty of playing time as FS O.J. Atogwe deals with his own nagging injuries.

Jason McCourty @ Colts -
After suffering a concussion two weeks ago, it appears Jason McCourty will be active against the Colts this week, and that is disappointing news for those of you that picked up Alterraun Verner last week. Whether it’s McCourty or Verner, whoever is opposite Cortland Finnegan seems to be a worthy DB-1 producer on a weekly basis.
Donald Washington vs. Packers –
It’s likely that Jon McGraw will be out after suffering an ankle injury against the Jets last week. Washington has proven to be an effective option when given a chance, and when McGraw was out last week, Washington went on to total eight

Kurt Coleman @ Dolphins –
In what has been a roller-coaster ride in the Eagles backfield has finally had some stability from Kurt Coleman as an every week starter after the team ditched on Jarrad Page. Coleman has been on fire over the past month as he’s totaled at least eleven total tackles in four of his last five games.
Just a week ago Tyvon Branch had only marginal success against the Dolphins, but I feel things will play out a little different in this contest as the Eagles should put up a better fight, but presenting some mismatch problems to Miami’s defense with Michael Vick back and the shifty LeSean McCoy in the backfield.
Not matter the outcome for Coleman, as long as he’s healthy, he will continue

Linebackers
Colin McCarthy –
With Barrett Ruud struggling with an injury, likely future middle linebacker Colin McCarthy is getting a look starting. The rookie has posted 18 tackles (10 solos last week) in the past two games, and could have another solid performance this week if LeGarrette Blount and the Buccaneers offense play like they did a week ago in Green Bay.
When starting McCarthy should be viewed as an instant LB-3 right away, as the middle linebacker spot has been a good one for tackles on many teams, especially in Tennessee, over the past few years.
Perry Riley –
It’s hard to trust players on the Redskins these days, not because they don’t have an opportunity, but more

Washington SS LaRon Landry had his Achilles injury flare back up this week and will be a game-time decision Sunday. He missed practice all week but said he'd play if it were his decision. As was the case earlier this year, the call will be left to the coaches and training staff. If he does start, it seems we should be able to expect a full game. If Landry doesn't go, Reed Doughty would likely fill in. FS O.J. Atogwe is due back after practicing in full all week.

Antrel Rolle vs. Eagles –
A nice matchup could turn into another sub-average game for Antrel Rolle if Michael Vick is out after missing all three days of practice this week. Rolle should have opportunities for interceptions on backups Kafka or Young, but you have to wonder whether they will have a respectable amount of snaps this week (putting together long drives) to make the Giants talented defensive backs good plays this week.
Personally, I’m going with Rolle as I have him as a top five defensive back this week, because I feel he will produce in a very important division game for New York.
LaRon Landy vs. Cowboys -
The Redskins star strong-safety continues to put up respectable numbers, but this could

Kamerion Wimbley @ Vikings –
Coming off a solid performance against the Broncos, Kamerion Wimbley had a massive game against the Chargers on Thursday night, with four sacks and seven solo tackles. This was Wimbley second consecutive week with at least six solo tackles, and he has another solid matchup on deck, against rookie quarterback Christian Ponder this week.
A big-play league special, Wimbley is still playing at a level that makes him worth considering for the final bye week as a LB-3 play in tackle heavy leagues.
