The Titans have re-signed K Rob Bironas to a 2-year, $6.7 million deal. He was set to hit the free-agent market next week but will remain with the only team he's ever known. Bironas is 35 years old and connected on 80.6% of his FGs last season -- his worst mark since 2006. All 6 of his misses came from 40+ yards, but long-distance kicks have usually been his strength. We'll see if Bironas can bounce-back in 2013, but you should be able to do better for your fantasy football team.

With a rookie quarterback and an average at best receiving core, you know it was going to be a tough season for former Pro Bowl kicker Dan Carpenter. However if you’re looking for a waiver wire option with top kickers like David Akers, Blair Walsh, Greg Zuerlein and Justin Tucker’s production falling off in the second half of the season, give Carpenter a look this week.
The Dolphins travel back home after a competitive game in San Francisco where Carpenter nailed a 53-yard field goal. As a life long 49ers fan, I can tell you it’s no easy feat for a kicker to convert from over 50-yards in that stadium, especially one that has probably never kicked their

After converting just one field goal in his two previous games, Patriots kicker Stephen Gostkowski was successful on three of his four attempts against the Dolphins. While inconsistencies in attempts have been an issue for Gostkowski over the years, his problems are more to do with offensive drives producing touchdowns, as Gostkowski totaled 15 PAT’s in the previous two weeks.
Conversely, most kickers around the league struggle with consistency issues more because the team they play for is either bad or the offense fails the move the football, thus turning them into an undesired option for fantasy lineups.

It’s been an up and down roller coaster for Shayne Graham owners in recent weeks. While the Texans have put together back to back overtime victories in high-scoring games, their veteran kicker has missed three field goals in that time, and yet he’s also converted five.
Fantasy owners will take the five field goals, but it is his lack of consistency that forced the veteran to bounce around to four different teams (Giants, Patriots, Dolphins, Ravens) total through the two previous seasons after seven years in Cincinnati.
Through it all Graham’s situation still gives him a chance to tie or even break his career best of 31 field-goal conversions (has 20 thus

It’s been a good year for rookie kickers and Vikings Blair Walsh is one of them. It didn’t appear we should expect much from Walsh coming into the season as Minnesota was projected to be one of the worst teams in football.
Outside of last weeks meltdown the Vikings defense has played well and with Adrian Peterson coming back faster than many thought after his injury last winter, Walsh has turned out to be in a terrific situation.
Despite the loss in Washington, Walsh converted on all four of his field-goal attempts giving him 16 conversions on the young season and only one miss. A long of 55-yards tells us the kid has a strong leg and kicking in a dome

Tennessee Titans QB Matt Hasselbeck was 25-of-44 for 290 yards, a touchdown
and an interception Thursday night in his team's 26-23 Week 6 win over the
Pittsburgh Steelers.
Huddle Up: Hasselbeck, starting his second straight game in place of injured starter Jake
Locker, had a solid fantasy night, capped off with a pair of fourth-quarter scoring
drives as the Titans overcame a 23-16 deficit. On the the first of those drives,
Hasselbeck completed an 80-yard march with a 5-yard TD pass to Kenny Britt.
Then, after the Steelers' Shaun Suisham came up just short on a 54-yard field-goal

If you don’t know the name Justin Tucker, you will soon. Tucker beat-out Billy Cundiff to start for the Ravens and looked good against the Bengals flashing a strong leg and accuracy. Then his week two performance made him a top five fantasy kicker as he went off for three field goals from distances of 56, 51 and 48 yards.
Tuckers situation is attractive for fantasy leagues, but what impresses me most is John Harbaugh’s willingness to use him at will. A former special-teams coach, Harbaugh must really love his young kicker to display so much trust at this point in his career, and we should view Tucker as a top five fantasy option at his position going

Maybe the Ravens didn’t like what Billy Cundiff brought to the table, but Washington has to feel good about having him after he went four for four against the Saints. Cundiff doesn’t have one of the stronger legs in the game, but we should feel good about his chances for quality production, if the Redskins remain competitive in most football games.

It will be up to the 49ers defense to hold down one of the better offenses in the league, and I think that’s a tall order, especially the first week of the season.

While having drinks at the pool today, a friend of mine left a voicemail asking to draft his fantasy football team for him. He was on vacation and did not have access to a computer to complete the draft, and did not feel comfortable relying on auto-pick. I found it a compliment that someone had enough faith in me to draft a team on their behalf. It also brought on feelings of anxiousness and unease. What if I drafted poorly? What if he had been wanting one player in the draft and was available at his pick, but I went a different direction? I have drafted many teams this season and have gone many different ways

In light of the results from the Texans lose to the Panthers, and the Colts first win of the season, Houston’s week sixteen matchup in Indianapolis may not be a big blowout after all. No, the Colts didn’t find a passing attack last week, but their defense stepped up and made plays, as they rolled to an easy finish against the Titans.
Still if you’re in need of a solid top ten matchup for Super Bowl week, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to take a shot on the Texans defense for an early Thursday game. Indianapolis has a hard time slowing down the Texans zone run blocking scheme, and it’s not like they will have Cam Newton at quarterback.

The Packers were dominant at home against a beat-up Raiders team that clearly didn’t come to play. This week Mason Crosby and the Packers team defense are listed as our top players to start for their respective positions, as they head out to Kansas City to take on the Chiefs. On Monday, the Chiefs finally fired Coach Todd Haley and it was about time, as after losing Matt Cassel, Haley’s only answer at quarterback as to use Tyler Palko.
Palko looked horrible once again last week as he consistently held the football too long waiting for something to happen down the field. The Chiefs have only scored two touchdowns since Palko took over, and

A hail mary pass at the end of the first half, gave the Chiefs seven of the ten points they needed to beat the Bears, but it’s likely they won’t find that fortune this week against the Jets. Kansas City has one of the worst offenses in football with Tyler Palko likely to stay under center with Kyle Orton suffering a hand injury on his only play last week.
This week we have the Jets listed as the top team defense to start, for the first round of the playoffs but there are a few other great matchups to take advantage of like the Ravens playing the Colts, the Seahawks vs the Rams or the Broncos against the Bears. Finding solid matchups for team defensive starts, can be the difference that helps put you over to advance deeper

Sure the New England Patriots are playing with a third rate secondary in terms of talent, but they’ve been getting the job done when opposing offenses creep inside the red zone. This week the Patriots get their second great matchup in the last three weeks as they return home to face the Colts offense.
While Indianapolis had some success last week, New England should be good for at least four sacks and two or three interceptions in this game, making them one of our top five fantasy defenses to start. If they are hanging around on your waiver wire, it would be a good idea to go after them, if you need him this week.

Titans K Rob Bironas (back) missed practice on Thursday. He returned to a limited workout on Friday, though, and is listed as probable for Sunday's game against the Bucs. He'll play, but you may be better off with a healthier kicker.

Even with six teams already out of the way in Week 12, we have much to discuss on the injury report. Let's get to it, leading off with the running back and then following up in this order: QB, WR, TE, and the rest.
• Adrian Peterson (ankle) missed the full week of team practice, though he did some individual work Friday. Nonetheless the Vikings have listed Peterson as doubtful, so it looks like Toby Gerhart will get the call at Atlanta. The underrated Falcons front seven is allowing just 3.8 yards a carry and 85.4 rushing yards per
