Shanahan likes veteran receiver on third down"I liked the way
Santana Moss played last year," coach Mike Shanahan said Wednesday at the owner's meetings. "He came in in excellent shape. I think he was a big part of our offense. There's a big upside to Santana next year because he's very familiar with our offense. He did a great job in our third-down package. I expect him to come in in the same type of shape and make the same plays he did last year."

Washington WR Santana Moss has accepted a pay cut to stay with the team. He reportedly had $2 million in salary for 2013 converted to incentives. The move puts the team about $3 million under the salary cap. Moss caught just 41 passes and saw only 61 targets in his first year with Robert Griffin III. Heading into his age-34 season, Moss doesn't present much for fantasy owners but a WR who will pop up for an occasional solid game. Those outings tend to be driven by a big play. The unpredictable nature of those games further decreases his value.

Huddle Up: Moss finished second on the team with 41 catches for 573 yards this past season, but he will turn 34 in June and clearly is on the downside of his career as his receptions and yardage totals were his lowest single-season marks since 2002.

'Robert's our starting quarterback, if he can go at 60%, he's better than half the guys out there. He could barely run the last three weeks and he's still hard to catch,' WR
Santana Moss said.

The NFL Playoffs are now set after 17 grueling weeks of play! There are a ton of story lines to follow. Among the more intriguing are three rookie quarterbacks, one of whom is guaranteed to win a playoff game in their first year; a second year quarterback who took over in week ten; a Colt’s team who went from worst last year to a playoff team this year, riding an emotional high after the return of their head coach from a successful bout against leukemia; and a team that went from the favorite for a first round bye to the number three seed in a few short weeks.
These are the overall rankings for the playoffs. Some formats require you to choose from all the teams in the playoffs, others allow you to go week to week. These

Perhaps the dumbest thing a fantasy manager can possibly do is publish player ranks on a mainstream sports site on the morning of a draft. Definitely not recommended. Poor strategy, requiring a special combination of stupidity and hubris. Far from ideal.
Nonetheless, I'm doing it today. My first fantasy playoff draft is coming up in just a few short hours, and I'm publishing ranks in advance. (Again: Unwise). Obviously I'd prefer to post this thing much later in the afternoon, after the draft, but my schedule is pretty jammed. I've blocked off eight-and-a-half hours to watch the Big Ten get mauled across five bowl games. The conference requires my full attention. So let's just rank the NFL playoff field right

As the biggest favorites in a game so far this season, it was more than a little surprising to see the Texans down 34-20 in the fourth quarter to a Jaguars team that has won once this year. I would say it was even crazier since the underdog lost its starting quarterback early on, but it's Blaine Gabbert, and Chad Henne impressed…Rashad Jennings has obviously been a huge disappointment since taking over for Maurice Jones-Drew, but there were plenty of fantasy owners still counting on at least some production in deep leagues, so a heads up about his benching sure would have been nice. Fantasy owners with Andre Johnson were waiting for an explosive game from the veteran and they finally got it against the Jaguars. Johnson put the game away with a 48-yard touchdown to seal the game in over time helping him finish with 14 receptions for 273 yards and the big score.
With top corner back Jonathan Joseph questionable for this week, the Lions will have respectable odds of forcing the Texans into another high-scoring game on Thanksgiving. Look to Johnson as a must start WR1 going forward.

Hey, wait, hold up. Who invited the 2008 Texans to the 2012 season?
Houston's defense is no longer supposed to be a team weakness, but an asset. In fact, the Texans D entered the week ranked second in the NFL in yards-allowed (281.6) and third in points (15.9). Sure, they were destroyed by the Packers in Week 6, but they've still held six opponents to 14 points or less this season. Ever since the Green Bay loss, this defense has been absolutely dominant.
This isn't a team that finds itself in weekly shootouts anymore, as was the case early in the Gary Kubiak era. These days, Houston holds your offense to a low number and they steamroll your defense with Arian Foster. That's the formula. Game

Washington Redskins wide receiver
Santana Moss should be ready to play in Week 11 after being concussed in Week 9. He is listed as probable for Week 11. Coming off their bye provided enough time for
Moss to recover fully. He practiced in full throughout the week. The Redskins (3-6) host the Philadelphia Eagles (3-6) on Sunday. FANTASY ANALYSIS:
Moss is currently the Redskins' leading receiver, but with the return of WR Pierre Garcon, the former Miami Hurricane could see fewer targets. Philadelphia will be without QB Michael Vick and instead will start rookie QB Nick Foles. Philly is riding a five-game losing streak and Washington hasn't won in their last three contests. As for Moss' fantasy impact, he probably is not worth a start unless

A source told ESPN 980 that Washington Redskins wide receiver Pierre Garcon's chances of playing in Week 11 are quot;better than you think." Garcon would probably be best-served by having surgery, but that would mean he would be out for the remainder of the season. Instead, this injury has dragged on for weeks and weeks. The Redskins season isn't technically over yet, although they'd have to run the table to have a legit opportunity to make the playoffs. FANTASY ANALYSIS: These sorts of decisions (to avoid surgery and play through pain) is what shortens careers. Garcon is a player that relies heavily on his speed and explosion and a serious foot injury obviously compromises his biggest asset. By avoiding surgery for as long as he has, he

One thing we can count on in New Orleans is a running game clustered with multiple tailbacks coming in and out of the lineup. With Joe Vitt back from his suspension, leading the charge as the Saints head coach there are some things have changed that we need to take note of.
For one, Vitt is open about wanting to run the football more, using ball control to take pressure off the defense. A smart move, and with Sproles out of the lineup, Chris Ivory has been pressed back into action as the third option in the

The Raiders have struggled to run the football all year forcing Carson Palmer and the passing game to play well in order to remain competitive. With the way their defense has played of late and the Saints coming to town, you can bet Palmer is in for a day of possibly over 50 passing attempts and that means big things for Denarius Moore.
Moore struggled with hamstring problems this summer and came on slow this season as a result, but in the past five weeks Moore is seventh in the league in targets, with 22 receptions for 392 yards and four touchdowns. Few wide receivers can rival those numbers and with possibly his most favorable game of the year, you can understand why

Time to get in character for another week. The ranks in this exercise are not Week 10 fantasy ranks; instead, we're trying to arrange the players based on what we expect from Weeks 10-16. Assume a standard scoring format (non-PPR), and remember the golden rule: no one gains 10-20 percent of bonus value just because they're on your roster.
That established, if you logically construct a sound argument, I'm all ears. I'll add comments, and tweak a rank or two, as the night goes along. It's quarterbacks and wideouts this week; running backs and tight ends get the floor next week.

On Sunday, when Brian Urlacher broke the plane on this 46-yard interception return, the Chicago Bears had their seventh such touchdown of 2012, in just their eighth game — which is, of course, ridiculous. The single-season NFL/AFL team record for pick-sixes is nine, set by the 1961 San Diego Chargers. If you want to exclude AFL marks, then the 1998 Seattle Seahawks hold the record with eight.
Chicago's defense also scored on a blocked punt in Week 9, as Sherrick McManis snuffed out a first quarter kick, then Corey Wootton scooped it up plodded into the end zone.
