Getting a haircut is one of the most important things in a young man's life. Choosing the right barber who has the right skill level is key, and establishing a level of comfort to allow that barber to touch your prized hair is a nerve-wracking, dreaded process. Most barbers cut downwards with the clippers facing the ground; but when done properly, cutting upwards, or against the grain, can yield some of the finest-looking hair at the end.
In the case of the Cleveland Cavaliers, general manager Chris Grant and owner Dan Gilbert are a duo of barbers. The customer? The Cavs roster, and the clippers, or the tool used to cut hair, would be none other than their

The Cleveland Cavaliers have won the 2013 NBA Draft Lottery, giving them the right to select first in the NBA Draft on June 27. It remains to be seen if the Cavaliers will decide to keep the number one selection or trade it. The number one pick has not been traded since 1993 when the Orlando Magic traded Chris Webber to the Golden State Warriors.
It was made clear the other night that the Cavaliers do not want to be in the lottery for a long time, both owner Dan Gilbert and son Nick Gilbert made that statement. If they want to make the playoffs next year, they have some decisions to make.
Many believe that Nerlens Noel is the top NBA prospect in the draft. Reports say that Noel will be sidelined until at least Christmas as

And rightfully so—if that pick hits and the Cavs find a star, they set themselves up nicely for the next decade. Miss on that pick, or even just come up with an average rotation player, and Cleveland may have doomed itself to mediocrity. It's a big deal.
But Cleveland has a second pick in the first round, thanks to the

Dan and Nick Gilbert continue to defy the odds
Source: Yardbarker
When Nick Gilbert came away with the fourth-overall pick in last year’s NBA lottery, he was disappointed. Just fifteen years old at the time, the son of the Cleveland Cavaliers’ majority owner felt that he had let down an entire fan base that so badly wanted to return to prominence. After all, it was this very dais that made him a nationally known name amongst NBA fans. The ‘beginners luck’ that had been such a gift one year earlier became a bit of a curse.
Fans of opposing teams, doing what they do, took shots at the teenager who suffers from neurofibromatosis, a nerve disorder that causes tumors to sprout on a whim. Kids at school, doing what they do, began to chop Gilbert down in what was his moment of vulnerability, telling him that he was “nothing special.” But it would be just one year later that the oldest son of the Cavaliers’ owner can not only proudly return to school, but can do so having officially christened with being his father’s good luck charm.
“It’s Nick Gilbert,” ...

It’s become an annual ritual, at the conclusion of every abysmal post-LeBron Cavs season – three in all. Cavs owner Dan Gilbert rounds up a contingent of famous Clevelanders and heads to New York. At the center of the contingent is Gilbert’s son, Nick.
A 16-year-old who suffers from a disease called neurofibromatosis, Nick Gilbert has used his series of 30-minute turns in the spotlight to raise awareness about his disease. Which was kind of the original reason for Dan Gilbert to put his son in the Cavs’ chair for the 2011 lottery. Source: Yardbarker
If they stay at #1, the Cavs could take Nerlens Noel of Kentucky. But if they are scared off by his injury concerns, moving the pick would be a smart move The NBA's Draft Lottery took place Tuesday in New York City, leaving the Draft hopes and dreams of a bunch of NBA teams to a random selection of ping-pong balls. And, like they did in 2011, the Cleveland Cavaliers -- with a full army of owner Dan Gilbert's sons -- won the Lottery, giving them the top overall pick in June's festivities at the Barclays Center. Even in a lesser-talented class like the one for this season, holding the first slot in the draft pecking order is a great advantage that allows teams either to pick whomever they could want, or trade the selection to another eager franchise for a lucrative haul in return. The Cavs are looking at both of those options now at this early stage. According to Brian Windhorst of ESPN.com, Cleveland is open to hearing trade offers for the No. 1 pick. Far ...

John Calipari reveals that the Cavaliers have scouted a lot of Kentucky games, if you know what I mean (Ball Don't Lie)
Source: Yahoo! Sports
He’s not wrong, but there is always a motive behind anything Kentucky basketball coach John Calipari says that appears on the verge of being self-congratulatory. So when he points out, following the Cleveland Cavaliers’ lottery “win,” that Cavs general manager Chris Grant was a regular at Kentucky games throughout the season, he’s not only giving Grant credit for his doggedness and scouting hustle in prepping to possibly pick Kentucky center Nerlens Noel, he’s also pointing out that the GM behind a rebuilding team with a terrible record likely to get a top pick decided to head to Kentucky over and over and over again. And why?
Because Kentucky has top overall pick-like players, and will every year. And hey kids, if you want to be a top overall pick in the NBA draft, come to Kentucky for the year! Just suggestin’ things, John is.
Here’s Calipari’s quote from his conversation with the Cleveland Plain-Dealer’s Mary Schmitt-Boyer , as tipped to us by Pro Basketball Talk :
"They haven't made mistakes,'' Calipari said in a telephone interview on Wednesday, one day after the Cavs won the lottery to earn the No. 1 pick for the second time in three years. "If they pick him, in all likelihood, history tells you something: It's not a mistake, which means it's good for my kid.

The Cleveland Cavaliers happily won the Draft Lottery. However, the cause for celebration may have diminished, as the value of a first overall choice in a historically weak draft is much lower than they perceived.
