The title of this post is basically a warning to you that I know very little about this draft still, but still have enough knowledge of the lottery/draft and the Timberwolves’ situation to make penning some thoughts worth everyone’s time. Or at least I hope it is. If not, I’m sure both Tom and Jonah will have some thoughts for you guys. Still, there’s lots of ways they could go with this pick and you have to remember they are in a different position than they were at this time last year. It’s official. The 2013 NBA Draft lottery is complete, and while the Timberwolves did have a chance (albeit a slim one) at the top pick, they ultimately stood still in 9th. To be honest, it’s not a terrible place to be, especially this year. There are a number of talented players hovering around in the “top 10″ atmosphere and a few that could really help the Wolves going forward.

Let’s be honest for a second. Minnesota is a better team than its 9th-to-last finish from this past season. Injuries have killed this talented group of young players. Which happens. And it’s fine because once the crew is healthy, they are capable of battling for a playoff spot. No, seriously.

Continuing their unbroken record of not moving up in the draft lottery, the Timberwolves stay in the 9th draft position.

The Cleveland Cavaliers will pick first, followed by the Orlando Magic (who had the best chance to land the first pick), and the Washington Wizards, who moved up from the 8th position to third.

Looks like the Wolves will be choosing among players such as C.J. McCollum, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Cody Zeller and the like, instead of Victor
