This is a big signing...and not just because he's 6'7" 330. He's a 4-star OT prospect (ranked as top 20 in his position by several services) out of Tri-Cities HS in East Point. He has attended several HS football all-star camps and has walked away with the OL MVP award at several of them. This guy is extremely quick for his size.

Swofford said he has had positive talks with Florida State and reiterated: "It has been and I would anticipate that it will continue to be a very beneficial relationship to both parties, which is what it should be." Whether or not Florida State has a wandering eye toward the Big 12 has dominated recent speculation.

Georgia Tech Women's Tennis Head Coach Bryan Shelton has been here before and he's won it all.

Not many figured Shelton would be at this stage with his 2012 squad, especially having to go to Tuscaloosa and take on the University of Alabama.

But here they are. On Thursday afternoon at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex, on the University of Georgia Campus, Shelton's Yellow Jackets will take on No. 9 California at 9:00, with the winner getting to play top-ranked UCLA or Rice for a berth in the Final Four.

AMELIA ISLAND, Fla. -- Nothing ratchets up expectations like winning. So it goes that much more is expected out of Virginia coming off a surprising 8-5 season and appearance in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl. Coaches always say it is more difficult maintaining success than rebuilding from the bottom up, so this upcoming season will be a huge test for coach Mike London. "Expectations are always at a point where you want to do well," London said at the ACC spring meetings.

Three strikes and Clemson running back Mike Bellamy is out. After a short career that was spent mainly in coach Dabo Swinney's doghouse, Bellamy has been ruled academically ineligible and won't return this fall. This is yet another off-field blow for the Tigers, who recently learned that star receiver Sammy Watkins was arrested earlier this month for possession of marijuana and a controlled substance. So far, Swinney hasn't announced any punishment for Watkins, but he has said there will be one.

Mercer rallied with two runs in the eighth inning, and stunned Georgia Tech, 4-3, Tuesday night at Claude Smith Field in Macon, Ga., in the Yellow Jackets final non-conference game of the regular season. Kyle Wren had three hits for Tech.

Georgia Tech has a simple mission as it enters its final 2012 regular-season series against Miami at Russ Chandler Stadium: Win and you're in. The Yellow Jackets enter holding the eighth and final seed to qualify for the ACC Tournament.

The Yellow Jackets will try to finish strong following a hard-fought ACC series loss at Virginia last weekend. The Jackets trailed in all three games and valiantly fought back in each. They climbed out of an early three-run deficit Friday before falling late, 6-5, rallied on Saturday, before falling, 4-2, then, on Sunday, pulled out one of the most dramatic victories of the season. Tech rallied for two runs in the ninth to force extra innings, tying the game on a two-out infield hit by Kyle Wren, then won it in the 10th on a Zane Evans homer. Evans recorded the final two outs in the bottom half to earn the save.

Pitt, Syracuse take places at ACC meetings

AMELIA ISLAND, Fla. -- Pitt and Syracuse are caught in a bit of no man's land right now. With one foot out of the Big East door and one foot in the ACC door, the two schools had their representatives at the ACC spring meetings this week. It may seem strange or awkward, but the programs are persona non grata at the Big East, after announcing their defections last September. They will not be at the Big East spring meetings next week, and are trying to move forward with their eyes to the ACC future.

Earlier this morning we looked at who in the Atlantic Division has the most to prove. The Coastal Division is up next: 1. Duke coach David Cutcliffe. It’s time for Cutcliffe to prove his program is still heading in the right direction, and the most obvious way for him to do that is to lead the Blue Devils to a bowl game. Cutcliffe will be entering his fifth season in Durham, and while he’s been painfully close to a breakthrough winning season -- losing eight games over the past two years by seven or fewer points -- he will ultimately be judged by the win column.

Miami QB Stephen Morris gets green light

AMELIA ISLAND, Fla. -- Miami coach Al Golden said Tuesday that quarterback Stephen Morris has been medically cleared and is ready to participate in the Hurricanes' offseason program. Players report back to campus Tuesday, and Golden said Morris will get right to passing drills and working with receivers on individual routes. Golden has previously said that Morris was ahead of schedule in his return from back surgery. Morris did return for the final week of spring practice, but he was limited and didn't participate in the spring game.

AMELIA ISLAND, Fla. -- Coming changes to the BCS have captivated the college football world this offseason. Coaches have been paying attention, too, and have their own opinions about how a future four-team playoff should look. One of the bigger discussion points at the ACC spring meetings Monday was about the BCS. Executive director Bill Hancock presented some of the ideas that have come up during meetings with the conference commissioners. Nothing has been settled about who gets in, but one of the biggest debates has centered on whether winning a conference championship should be a requirement.

Thanks to FSU president Eric Barron, who provided some context and facts to help put the speculation regarding FSU's reported interest in the Big 12 into perspective. Barron wrote a memo, obtained by ESPN, that includes four key points that alumni argue would support a move from the ACC to the Big 12, and seven longer key points that argue against it. No. 6 is the key: 6. It will cost between $20M and $25M to leave the ACC -- we have no idea where that money would come from.
