Debating cross-divisional rivalries

It sounds like the SEC is trying to get everything in order to be able to announce the 2014 schedule next week at the spring meetings in Destin, Fla.
At this point, it’s doubtful that the league will go to nine conference games in 2014, although I think that is inevitable down the road.
What is most intriguing to me about the whole schedule debate is whether or not permanent cross-divisional rivalries will survive. Really, the two that are soaked in tradition and are probably worth fighting for are Alabama-Tennessee and Auburn-Georgia.

We know by now that Steve Spurrier would like to see only divisional games count in determining which teams advance to the SEC championship game every year.
It’s worth noting that the Gamecocks are 14-2 in the Eastern Division over the past three seasons, which is the best divisional record in the league during that span. The only two East teams South Carolina has lost to over the past three years were Florida on the road last season and Kentucky on the road during the 2010 season.

Athlon Sports | MSU or OM: Who Will Finish With More SEC Wins?
Spoiler alert: four out of five of the writers pick Ole Miss. It certainly seems like Ole Miss returns the better team. Couple that with the fact that Ole Miss' east foes are Vanderbilt (yikes) and Missouri (not yikes), and it's easy to see that the Rebels are more likely to have the most wins of the two programs. Obviously a lot can happen during a season, and in late May anything football-related is simply conjecture, but it's interesting nonetheless.

OK, everybody, be honest.
Who picked Alabama vs. Texas A&M as the must-see game in the SEC this time a year ago?
It probably wouldn't have been among my top five choices before the season began. But in retrospect, no game in the league was more compelling last season than the Aggies' 29-24 win over the then-No. 1-ranked Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa. Johnny Manziel was sensational and Deshazor Everett came up with the big interception late to seal it for the Aggies, who looked right at home in their first season in the SEC.

Ole Miss has won three national football championships in the same respect that Alabama has won 15 or 16 or however many dozen they're claiming these days. Back before the BCS, there wasn't really a discrete national championship winner (and, technically, there still isn't, at least as far as the NCAA is concerned - it's needlessly complicated, y'all) and a whole number of college football polls and publications awarded "national championships." Because of this, we have far more national champions than we have actual college football seasons.
Regardless, that doesn't mean that such shouldn't be used as a selling point, especially when it comes to recruits who, themselves, are looking to win some sort of championship during their

Two of the players on his list will be playing in the SEC -- Ole Miss defensive end Robert Nkemdiche and Auburn defensive end Carl Lawson.
Nkemdiche was ESPN's No. 1 prospect nationally in the 2013 class. He was also the No. 1 defensive end. Lawson was the No. 2 defensive end nationally.
Ole Miss and Auburn were both in the bottom half of the league last season in pass efficiency defense, so adding a couple of dynamic pass-rushers should help both the Rebels and Tigers.

Well the Rebels dropped a tough one yesterday to Arkansas 2-1 in a very evenly matched game. Great pitching fell through late, as a two-out wild pitch from freshman Matt Denney allowed the winning run to cross the plate in extra innings. Don't fault Denney, though, because the run support for both teams did no pitchers any favors.
After that game, the Tide fell to LSU by a score of 3-0. That means that our matchup sets up the loser to go home, while the winner will advance to play the loser of Friday's LSU/Arkansas game.
Heading into the SEC tourney, the Tide were led at the plate by Ben Moore, hitting for a .290 average, driving in 38 runs and slugging at a .438 clip. Ben Moore is also tied for the team lead with
