According to various sources, including CBS Sports' Jeff Goodman, as well as JP Pelzman, who broke the news, former Iona wing Kyle Smyth will transfer to Seton Hall and use his one year of eligibility remaining playing for the Pirates.

The NCAA released the official attendance figures for the 2011-12 season yesterday.

Seton Hall ranked 76th in the country with an average attendance of 6,941, both figures are down from last campaign (62nd & 7,937, respectively.) However, more total Pirate fans took in games at the Rock (and Walsh Gym) this season (124,935) than last (119,060). For all you non-math majors out there, its obvious that more games were played at home this season (18) than last (15) -- the NIT helped here (sort of, see: average attendance.)

On Friday, Jon Prosinski pitched 7.2 innings and senior Will Walsh went 2-for-4 with his third home run of the year as Seton Hall defeated Georgetown, 5-3. On Saturday, junior Ryan Harvey threw a complete-game, two-hitter as the Pirates edged the Hoyas, 2-1. Walsh and Sal Annunziata hit back-to-back home runs in the eighth inning, but it wasn't enough to overcome a four-run deficit and Seton Hall fell to Georgetown, 5-4, on Sunday. On Tuesday, in Seton Hall's lone mid-week game, Scott Kalamar drove in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning on a sacrifice fly to defeat Saint Joseph's, 4-3. Seton Hall has six BIG EAST games remaining and needs just one win to clinch a berth in the 2012 BIG EAST Championship tournament.

Seton Hall had a strong performance last weekend, sweeping West Virginia in a three-game series at Owen T. Carroll Field. Mike Genovese went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and pitched 2.1 innings of scoreless relief to earn the save in Seton Hall's 11-9 victory over the Mountaineers on Friday. Saturday was a pitcher's duel, won by Ryan Harvey. Harvey went six innings without giving up an earned run and struck out nine batters in a 3-1 win. Sunday, Brian Gilbert was perfect through five innings as the Pirates completed the sweep with a 9-4 win. Gilbert earned the victory, going seven innings, Frank Morris preserved the game with two innings of scoreless relief. Seton Hall played one mid-week game, and lost 7-0 on Tuesday. It was the first time the Pirates have been shut out this season. Giuseppe Papaccio was the lone Pirate with multiple hits in the loss.
