Hey all,

Thursday was another non-eventful day on the home front for Stanford track and field, with most of the action taking place at the NCAA West Regional in Austin, Texas. The freshmen male distance runners met early this morning for their longer run of the day as per usual. What was left of the male and female distance squads reconvened in the mid-afternoon for their shake-out runs, drills and strides, and both groups will meet early tomorrow morning at the track for their workouts.

As the Stanford Cardinal prepare for the 2013 season this summer, focus will invariably deviate to the team's Pac-12 Conference schedule during the meat of the regular season. 

The reigning Rose Bowl champions have lost some of their talent on offense, including standout running back Stepfan Taylor and tight end Zach Ertz, but will return undefeated quarterback Kevin Hogan and a number of contributors on the defensive side of the ball.

Hey all,

Yesterday was even quieter than Tuesday for our program here at home. The morning distance crew practice was comprised of Will, Garrett, Thomas, Luke and myself. Starting from the track around 7:20 a.m., we headed out going west on Campus Drive towards the hospital, eventually connecting with Junipero Serra and then onto Alpine Road.

After the run, a few of us headed to weight room for our usual 30-minute Wednesday session. Under the previous coaching staff, distance runners didn’t hit the weight room at all, but it’s something Coach Milt believes

Back in March, I wrote that college tennis is the ultimate intersection of team and individual sports. That statement has never felt more true.

Tuesday night, Cardinal women’s tennis pulled off the ultimate team accomplishment by winning its 17th national championship, keeping alive a 36-year NCAA title streak for Stanford’s athletics. It upset four top-five teams in the final rounds of the tournament, including No. 1 Florida and No. 3 Texas A&M in the semis and finals, staying tough through three 4-3 wins

Oregon (finally) releases NCAA notice

Oregon decided this week to release its formal notice of allegations from the NCAA concerning the Willie Lyles investigation, which it received Dec. 5. Yes, the school is notoriously tardy with releasing information to the media. The notice, released in response to public-records requests and first reported by The Register-Guard, follows reports that Oregon already met with the NCAA Committee on Infractions (COI) on April 20. Much of what is included mirrors what was in a summary disposition that Oregon submitted to the NCAA last October.
