Arkansas will be facing Texas A&M in the state of Texas in 2012, but it won't be at Cowboys Stadium as originally scheduled.
Texas A&M athletic director Bill Byrne announced over the weekend that the Aggies would face the Hogs next season on Sept. 29 at Kyle Field, giving Texas A&M six home games. In 2013, Texas A&M will play at Arkansas. The series will then go back to Cowboys Stadium in 2014, and be played in Arlington, Texas, for the final seven years of the original 10-year contract that was signed prior to Texas A&M joining the SEC.

Top Questions for Spring Practice: #5
Top Questions for Spring Practice: #5
Source: Spit Blood by Lyle Lanley
Is this the Frogs' new punter? It felt like Anson Kelton- and especially Ross Evans- were the starting punter and kicker for TCU for about 13 years. Much like when the Frogs had Nick Sanders and Rafael Priest as four-year starters at corner, it seemed like the two kicking positions were held down permanently. Both have graduated now, though, so finding replacements for them will be one of the top priorities of the spring.
Sophomore Ryan DeNucci is in line to become the starting kicker following Evans' departure. The Austin native kicked the ball off 24 times last fall for an average of 63.8 yards and two touchbacks. He's yet to attempt a field goal or a PAT in a game, though, so we know little about his accuracy. He'll need a strong showing this spring, as strong-legged freshman Jaden Oberkram will be gunning for his job this fall.
Penciled-in to replace Kelton right now is Cale Patterson. We don't think GP is into the whole nepotism thing, so there's no reason to believe that the senior is related to the man in charge. He's yet to play in a game at TCU, but that's clearly because of Kelton's presence during his entire stay in Fort Worth. In his final two years of high school in the northern Chicago 'burbs, Patterson averaged nearly 42.6 yards per punt- so he's got a good leg on him. Like DeNucci, he'll need a stellar spring as he has a talented freshman- Ethan Perry- that will be breathing down his neck (figuratively, of course) this fall.
I'm sure that whomever takes over place-kicking duties this fall will be among the favorite players of most of our readership...until he misses a kick, of course. But who do you think that will be- can DeNucci hold off the kid from Arlington Martin? And will GP keep it in the Patterson clan when a drive stalls out and he needs the ball punted away, or will Cale Patterson be a career backup for his last season at TCU?

What to watch:
Nick Florence: It's not official, but the Baylor quarterback job is Florence's to lose. That means he inherits the unenviable task of replacing the school's first Heisman winner.

TCU and West Virginia don't "officially" join the Big 12 until July 1.
But nothing happens in July. In March, we have spring football, and in every meaningful sense, the Horned Frogs and Mountaineers have become the first teams to ever join the Big 12 since its creation back in 1994.
Big 12 teams are showing up on both programs' new film for 2012. Recruiting efforts are shifting.
It's a brand new world in the Big 12. If you lost track, it still has 10 teams.

A friend of Spit Blood recently acquired the rights to sell merchandise bearing the logo of the dear, departed Southwest Conference. T-shirts bearing the colors of multiple SWC schools (but oddly, not aggy) have been available for a while, but until recently only a few schools were deemed cool enough to warrant hats as well. The Frogs have now made that headwear cut, with not one but TWO colors available- the khaki, as seen above, as well as white. They're $25 each, and a purple or gray T-shirt (with a purple SWC logo) will run you $20.
Here's

Texas, a team desperate to extends its NCAA Tournament streak to 14 years, needed a signature win.
Instead its fate may have been signed, sealed and delivered by No. 13 Baylor. The Bears, down by as many as 12, came back in the second half behind the inside play of Quincy Acy, and beat Texas 77-72 at the Frank Erwin Center Monday night.
The loss, which was Texas's second in as many games, may just push Longhorns (17-11, 7-8) off the bubble and into the NIT.

Top Questions for Spring Practice: #6
Top Questions for Spring Practice: #6
Source: Spit Blood by Lyle Lanley

2011 marked the first time in recent memory that TCU did not have an elite punt returner. The Frogs did take three kickoffs back for touchdowns, but two of them were by departed senior Greg McCoy, which is why the 6th biggest question facing this team headed in spring practice deals with the return game.
Receivers Skye Dawson and Brandon Carter and tailback Ed Wesley took the most turns at returning punts last season. None of them were ever able to match the game-changing heroics that guys like Cory Rodgers, Brian Bonner and Jeremy Kerley had displayed in previous seasons. Dawson and Carter both had some flashes- with season long returns of 42 and 43 yards, respectively- but also had some trouble with muffed catches and fumbles during returns. Wesley was more sure-handed when fielding punts, but did not often display the ability to produce long returns. He was definitely the most conservative option of the three.
Waymon James is the most experienced kick returner on the team, having returned 8 kicks for a total of 222 yards- including one for an 82-yard touchdown. Dawson is the only other returning player with experience returning kicks for TCU, having fielded 7 kicks for a total of 182 yards over the years.
The incumbents listed above will surely get the first shot at retaining the return roles in 2012, but there is no shortage extremely athletic candidates that will be looking to make their own impact on special teams this spring. How do you see these jobs being filled this fall? Which younger guys on the team do you think have the best chance to unseat the veterans?
