Not surprisingly, there are more than a few that might be of interest to SEC fans: 1. (Preseason No. 1): Who will be this year's AP Preseason No. 1? Whoever it is must overcome recent history. Florida is the class of SEC athletics ... again. For the 23rd time, the Gators have walked away with the SEC All-Sports Trophy as presented by the Halifax Media Group. Florida won eight SEC championships this past year. Georgia was second, and Texas A&M was third in its first year in the league. Florida won SEC titles in men's basketball, women's cross country, gymnastics, soccer, softball, men's swimming and diving, women's tennis and volleyball.

Texas A&M already tried one "Is there anything Johnny Manziel can't do?" stunt when it let the quarterback try an extra point last season. Maybe Manziel has stumbled upon another one. Perhaps the Aggies can send out Manziel for a series or two blindfolded this season. Apparently it doesn't affect his accuracy that much. In a story from longtime NFL writer Charean Williams of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram (she also tweeted the picture to the right), she explained how quarterback guru George Whitfield Jr. put Manziel through a drill in which he was blindfolded and heard a receiver clap three times so he knew where to throw. And Manziel threw only two uncatchable passes in 29 blindfolded attempts, the report said. Wow. So, is there anything Johnny Manziel can't do?

Let’s get out our checklist and see what needs to be done before the 2013 season kicks off and the SEC tries to make it eight in a row. Tide envy: Alabama is no stranger to being the hunted. That’s just the way it is when you win three of the last four national championships. But it seems like everybody is gunning for Nick Saban and the Tide these days. The truth is that everybody outside of the Tide Nation is tired of seeing Alabama win all the time.

Will Texas A&M quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Johnny "Football" Manziel repeat his 2012 college football performance? Or will he suffer the dreaded sophomore slump? 

That's the question on everyone's mind with 100 days left until the first FBS college football game kicks off on August 29. The odds of Manziel winning the Heisman this year are astronomically high because there has only been one back-to-back Heisman winner: Ohio State running back Archie Griffin, who accomplished that feat in 1974-75.

Kevin Scarbinsky of AL.com recently wrote suggested that an NFL roster comprised exclusively of Alabama and LSU players wouldn’t be a terrible idea. As he points out, according to a listing on ESPN.com, there are 49 players from LSU in the NFL and 41 players from Alabama. In reading that piece, I couldn’t help but think back to a conversation I had with former Alabama offensive line coach Joe Pendry just prior to the first Alabama-LSU game in 2011.

The expectations for Texas A&M have skyrocketed since last season. With a Heisman winner at quarterback and 11 victories in year one, many are quick to hop on the bandwagon and pick this team to win the SEC this year.

Let's not jump the gun just yet.

Texas A&M has a great team returning and a head coach in Kevin Sumlin who will keep his squad motivated. However, every team needs to have reasonable goals. Even the best and most talented teams in the country don't always produce as expected.

Playing off the immortal words of Lynyrd Skynyrd, what song (game) is it you want to hear (see)? We threw out a few dream possibilities involving SEC teams a week ago in our SportsNation poll. These were potential nonconference matchups. With more than 11,200 votes cast, the winner was Alabama vs. Oregon. That was certainly the game I wanted to see last season in the BCS National Championship Game. I think it's the game most college football fans wanted to see -- the classic high-octane, speed-of-light offense versus a suffocating defense that's been in the top 5 nationally in most major statistical categories for five years running.

They are Vanderbilt linebacker Chase Garnham, Tennessee linebacker A.J. Johnson, Alabama linebacker C.J. Mosley, Ole Miss linebacker D.T. Shackelford and Kentucky linebacker Avery Williamson. At this time last year, no one knew who was going to be the quarterback of the Texas A&M Aggies as they prepared for their first season in the SEC.

Since then, “Johnny Football” has taken over the college football landscape in a Heisman trophy-winning, extra point-missing campaign. His innate ability to make terrific scrambles out of broken plays allowed him to become the first freshman-eligible player to win the Heisman since its inception in 1935.

At the ripe age of 20, Manziel has reached unimaginable heights that most players can only dream of before he can legally drink.

None of this, however, suggests that Manziel has what it takes to cut it in the NFL.
