When Week 1 of the 2013 NFL season comes around, Darrelle Revis will be 50 weeks clear from his ACL injury. The last step in the process of recovering from ACL surgery is a huge mental hurdle allowing the player to essentially throw himself back into the fire. It’s about trusting the reconstructed portion of his body, and believing it will hold up.
Every athlete is different and every recovery is different, but that last step is always the same. Some guys come back and play right away, see Adrian Peterson. Others wait, see Derrick Rose. In both cases, the athlete has the

Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Darrelle Revis was the focus of Monday's “NFL Total Access." His rehabilitation from his ACL injury looks to be on track and he has almost all of his mobility back.
General manager Mark Dominik is patting himself on the back as of late after pulling off the trade to get Revis, a plan he had in mind many months ago.
“Quite frankly, it started when he blew out his knee,” Dominik said. “I actually went to our director of pro player personnel, Dennis Hickey’s office, and I said, ‘That could be the reason why he could leave the Jets.’ Because I knew what his contract situation was. So when he hurt his knee, I thought that’s going to be an out possibility.”
Good thinking on his part, because that's exactly how the Jets were thinking, especially with a new GM in town. So when the possibility of acquiring the star CB came to a head, they needed to jump one big hurdle - approval from team doctors. “I think it was a few minutes, just in a sep...

According to Rich Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, Buccaneers head coach Greg Schiano continues to say that Josh Freeman is the starter, but has also been preaching competition at the quarterback position.
“I try to tell them the truth that I believe in Josh Freeman and he’s our starting quarterback. But I believe in competition,” said Schiano.
It wouldn’t make sense for Schiano to claim there’s an open competition at quarterback for the Bucs. But I do believe if Freeman slips up, Schiano will be ready to put in Mike Glennon if he’s ready.

“Just getting ready for Week 1” against the Jets in the swamps of Jersey, Tampa Bay Buccaneers superstar Darrelle Revis expects to immediately dominate on the gridiron. Recovering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament suffered last September against the Dolphins in Miami, the 5-foot-11, 198 pound Revis was traded to the Bucs for the 13th overall pick in last month’s draft. “The first time I step out there, I’ll be fine,” said Revis, 27, who signed a six-year contract worth $96 million with Tampa Bay. “I call it just getting ready for Week 1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Greg Schiano didn’t draft Josh Freeman to be his quarterback, and seems to be unimpressed with him as a quarterback.
Freeman is coming up on the final year of his rookie deal, and Schiano and company drafted North Carolina State quarterback Mike Glennon in the third round to compete.
Glennon is in Tampa Bay to compete, but according to JoeBucsFan, won’t be taking a backseat to Freeman at any point.
First I just want to be a good teammate. I’m going to be a good teammate to all the guys, to the quarterbacks, to the line, to everybody. And earn the respect that way and kinda take everything in and listen to what they have to say. But at the same time, I don’t know if taking a backseat would be the right term because I’m a competitor and I’m going to do whatever I can to compete. So at the same time, though, I understand I’m a rookie and it’s a process, and I’m just going to worry about getting better each and every day and let things play out that way.

Comparing the rookie to Joe Flacco, Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Greg Schiano is “not against” Mike Glennon earning the starting job over incumbent quarterback Josh Freeman. Taken out of North Carolina State with the 73rd pick in last month’s draft, Schiano contends the 23-year-old Glennon has a “pocket presence, ability to feel the rush and move in the pocket.” “It’s not like we’re looking to find a starter,” said Schiano, 46, a clown’s pocket who thinks he’s tougher than Balls Mahoney. “But competition is competition. Josh Freeman is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' starting quarterback right now. Let's get that straight before we go any further in discussing the possibility that rookie Mike Glennon could win the job. Tampa Bay isn't like other places like Jacksonville up the road or Cleveland where quarterback battles are as open as they can possibly get. The Buccaneers aren't looking for a guy to beat out Freeman. Still, Tampa Bay isn't an open and shut book either. Josh Freeman has had a rocky, up-and-down career, and he's left the door ajar for someone to step in and win the Bucs' starting job. Head coach Greg Schiano seems to have a grasp of that reality, telling Dan Pompei of the National Football Post that Glennon will be able to take over for Freeman if need be, even opening the possibility that Glennon could win playing time moving forward. "But our situation will be only if he’s needed," Schiano told Pompei. "Or if he wins the job. Look, I’m not...
