NFL stadiums are just as much a part of a franchise's legacy as the players and coaches who win games, championships and fans over the course of its existence.
Change is always a concept that is hard to grasp, but four NFL teams are committed to change over the next few seasons when it comes to their old stadiums.
The San Francisco 49ers, Atlanta Falcons, Minnesota Vikings and Philadelphia Eagles all have plans to either build a new stadium entirely or renovate their current home. Fans who have flocked to games on Sundays for years will have to say their final goodbyes to stadiums rich in history and memories.
As these teams all prepare for their futures

Hogs Haven has a bit of a profile of Washington Redskins rookie linebacker Brandon Jenkins, and this jumped out at me because Jenkins was a player Mike Shanahan brought up when I was in Shanahan's office last week talking about this year's defense. Shanahan believes Jenkins can be a help to the pass rush right away as a standup outside linebacker in the team's 3-4 defense. He said Jenkins "looks like an excellent pass-rusher," and sounded as though he'd been more impressed than he expected to be during the offseason workout program.

We here in Philadelphia have long wanted a Super Bowl. But typically when he say that, we mean a Super Bowl win... not the actual game.
But that just may be what we get one day. Jeff Lurie has said more than one time this offseason that if the NY/NJ Super Bowl is a success, he'll he push for the game to be held in Philly.
"I will, yes. I will, if it's a success," Lurie said. "New York will help us."

Rookie tight end Zach Ertz and rookie cornerback Jordan Poyer missed Philadelphia Eagles OTAs and minicamp, but only because they weren't allowed to go. An NFL rule that prohibits rookies from joining their teams until their college terms are completed kept Ertz at Stanford and Poyer at Oregon State all spring, as those schools' years run later than, say, USC, where Matt Barkley came from.
As a result, Ertz and Poyer are at the team facility this week, playing catch-up while the rest of the team takes a pre-training camp break.

Earlier in one of the organized team activities, Jason Witten had a battle against Sean Lee, running a simple option route that he has done a million times and Lee has seen a million times. As Witten went for the catch, Lee poked the ball away, setting up something that resembled a game of hot potato for nearly five yards before the ball went to the ground.

The explosion of outstanding tight end tandems is taking the NFL by storm, and NFL teams reacted by snatching up most of the tight ends in the 2013 draft, despite already having a proven starter at the position to capitalize on this trend. Why should you only have one great tight end, when you can have two? It drives opposing defensive coordinators nuts. However, which teams that drafted tight ends in the 2013 draft will lead to a great tight end tandem in the future?.. Read more

Not all of our readers here are big Nick Fierro fans. Afra and Mothra aren't too fond of his schematic critiques. But I saw something in Nick that was bigger than the technical analysis approach--- he is an ex-player of the game at the collegiate level, he has a press pass that gets him inside the locker room, and he seems to have a real feel for the professional psyche of the game.
Silly me, I had a retro piece already in the can about the finances of the 1960-era Philadelphia Eagles, and how relatively small the money was back then, until you do as Brizer said and measure the actual spending power of the dollar in 1960.

Middle-aged Philadelphia Eagles fans recall ex-NFL star Ricky Watters making his infamous “For who? For what?” comments very well. Ironically, both Waters and Williams signed with the Eagles after winning a super bowl championship (Waters with the San Francisco 49ers, and Williams with the Baltimore Ravens). Nobody knows the torture of suffering through bad head coaches quite like Philadelphia Eagles fans. Hell, there are even some fans who considered the last few years of Andy Reid, the winning-est coach in team history, as cruel and unusual punishment.
However, there is no way on earth Andy Reid would or should ever make anybody’s list of worst head coaches in the NFL.
Recently, both Deadspin and ESPN published a list of the worst head coaches in the NFL. Deadspin’s was the 16 Worst Coaches in Modern NFL History and ESPN’s was just the worst coaches in NFL history.
Surprisingly, at least to me, was that Deadspin put one of the most celebrated coaches in Eagles history in Buddy Ryan as their No. 16.
Here’s what they had to say:

Certainly, most Philadelphia Eagles fans are approaching the looming training camp quarterback competition with a "may the best man win" philosophy. But that doesn't mean you can't hope that the best man winds up being either Nick Foles or Matt Barkley, rather than Michael Vick.

If Barkley doesn't't start by Week 1, then how long will it take him to be the starter? I think the Dallas Cowboys' four-man defensive line in their new 4-3 scheme looks very good as long as the four starters are healthy (DeMarcus Ware and Anthony Spencer at defensive end and Jay Ratliff and Jason Hatcher at defensive tackle). I think it has a good chance to work. The question is how much they have behind the starting four, and that's where 2012 third-round draft pick Tyrone Crawford could factor in. After bulking up to nearly 300 pounds last season to play as a 3-4 defensive lineman, Crawford is back down to his college weight of 285 and playing the 4-3 defensive end position he played at Boise State.
