When Charles Woodson arrived at Raiders HQ on Tuesday to make his visit, he was greeted by hundreds of fans. Many of them were wearing Woodson's #24 jersey from his first stint as a Raider. When Woodson greeted fans he held up a kid-size replica #24. It's obvious that both Woodson and the fan base have an emotional attachment to that number. The only question is, will Woodson wear it again as a Raider?
Currently that number is taken by another cornerback free agent acquistion -- Tracy Porter. During his conference call today with our fearless leader Levi Damien, Woodson had this to say about the idea of trying to talk Porter out of his former jersey number:
"We'll definitely have to have that conversation," said Woodson.

When Charles Woodson decided to return to the Oakland Raiders yesterday, it said a great deal about the credibility general manager Reggie McKenzie is gaining. Woodson had other opportunities, but choose to get back to his roots. Now his greatest value to the franchise will be his experience and leadership.
Last season, the Raiders had veterans like Richard Seymour and Michael Huff to serve as the voice of the defense. Both are gone and Woodson along with Tyvon Branch are the players setting the standard. Woodson is a Super Bowl champion, a

With the Raiders being a team that’s going through a massive rebuilding, not many people would voluntarily say that the Raiders are a team “on the up”; Charles Woodson is not one of those people. After signing a one year deal with the Oakland Raiders on Tuesday, Woodson gives more details to Dan Hanzus of NFL.com as to why he ended up going back to the team that drafted him with the fourth pick in the 1998 NFL draft. Woodson on why he choose to return to the silver and black; At that point I had to figure out what I wanted to do, and playing football was what I wanted to do so it was going to be somewhere, if it was a team that wasn’t quite there but still is a team that is looking on the up, then I was going to do it. And I feel that the Raiders are a team that are looking on the up. Woodson also reacted to the mob of Raiders fans that showed up in support of him. I think I was actually scared of leaving the facility and not having a deal done,” Woodson joked Wednesday, according ...

As a quarterback for Arizona State and the Oakland Raiders, Andrew Walter faced plenty of pressure and took more than his fair share of hits. Now, he'll face a new kind of pressure as he ventures into the world of politics.
Walter, a Republican, announced last week that he plans to challenge for a Congressional seat in Arizona's ninth district in 2014.
The ninth district includes all of Tempe, where Walter starred for the Sun Devils from 2002-04, so he may be able to parlay a bit of his popularity with the locals into his campaign. But what prompted a quarterback-turned-businessman to run for Congress?
"It's just a sense of duty and responsibility," Walter said Tuesday. "I've never served my country, I've never served in the military, and I think now more than ever we need serious leaders that want to offer common-sense solutions and not play politics."
Specifically, Walter believes the U.S. is in uncharted territory with the economy languishing post-recession, gove

Reggie McKenzie has a plan and he is going off of it accordingly, step by step he is following right along. I have said in the past that he has put himself out there by showing such supreme confidence, but that same supreme confidence has him convincing players that the Raiders are an up and coming team. It is convincing me as well.
The Raiders continue to fly behind the scenes with their steady improvements to their team. People on the outside are writing the Raiders off still and until they are proven wrong will continue to do so. However those lucky enough to have a sit down with Reggie McKenzie always seem to come out of it feeling pretty good about where the team is right now.

This probably is not a popular sentiment right now among Raiders fans, myself included.
They (we) have seen glimpses of what Pryor can do with his arm and his legs. He's indisputably the most talented quarterback on the roster from a physical standpoint.
Also, with the recent proliferation of the read-option in the NFL, he seems like an ideal candidate to make that trend work for Oakland, while

The Oakland Raiders agreed to a one-year, $1.8 million contract with former cornerback Charles Woodson. Including incentives, the deal is worth a maximum of $4.3 million according to RotoWorld.com.Division rival, Denver Broncos, also offered Woodson a one-year deal, but worth $3.7 million through reachable incentives according to the Denver Post. Oakland’s agreement includes incentives described as ‘hard to achieve.’It seems somewhat surprising Woodson chose Oakland over Denver with the Broncos a clear Super Bowl contender this coming season. The fact that both contracts are based on incentives makes the decision even more puzzling. But as the saying goes, what’s the difference between $4.3 million and $3.7 million: $600,000. That total may be chump change for the NFL, but it could be a significant amount for a 36-year-old football player.Of course, Woodson did spend his first eight seasons with Oakland who drafted the defensive back fourth overall in the 1998 draft. Woodson was a m...

Charles Woodson, the former fourth pick of the 1998 NFL draft has returned to the team that selected him, the Oakland Raiders. Woodson has been a free agent for months and is currently 36, turning 37 during the upcoming regular season. The details of his contract outline that he will receive a signing bonus of $700,000 with the ability to reach $4.3 million through incentives.
Woodson had been linked to the Denver Broncos and it is curious as to why he returned to the Raiders than the Broncos. Given his age, his playing time is running out and you have to figure that Denver is closer to possibly reaching the Super Bowl than the Raiders.
The former first-rounder appears to have chased the money on this signing rather than opting for a chance to win a championship. It’s believed that the incentives the Raiders have offered up are not really attainable by Woodson while his level of play on the field continues to erode. Woodson played eight seasons for the Raiders prior to joining the P...

Free agent DB Charles Woodson said he wanted to play for a contender, but instead he went with the sentimental choice, signing with the Oakland Raiders on Tuesday, the team that originally drafted him way back in 1998.
The one-year deal is worth about $4.3 million max in incentives, but with just a $1 million base salary, reports Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.
Last week, the Denver Broncos looked poised to sign the veteran, and it certainly fit Woodson's requirement of playing for a contender. They reportedly offered him a deal, but he left town without signing. His visit to Oakland was greeted by numerous fans at team headquarters that gave him his due as a former Raiders great.
In the end, those fans got their wish, and Woodson will play at least one more year in familiar confines, and a huge fan base that's delighted to see him back.

The Oakland Raiders, led by GM Reggie McKenzie, have had a very busy offseason in which many players were released and replaced by under-the-radar free-agent signings.
In Oakland, players like Rolando McClain have been replaced by Nick Roach while Ron Bartell and Shawntae Spencer have been replaced by D.J. Hayden and Tracy Porter.
The Raiders' defensive makeover has been so drastic that only three starters are returning on defense. Now, we can technically say they will have four returning starters.
