Things were looking pretty good for the San Jose Sharks last night.

It’s hard to blame a Vezina winning goalie for losing a game in front of anemic offense, but somehow it feels like the Rangers could have won this game in regulation if Henrik Lundqvist hadn’t allowed a couple duffers. Whether Rangers fans want to admit it or not, it seems like this has become a regular occurrence in the playoffs. With a weak power play and an inconsistent

It’s a time of turnover in Hockey Purgatory Heaven with Lindy Ruff getting his walking papers while Jordan Leopold, Jason Pominville and Robyn Regehr each were shipped out of town before the deadline. It appears as if this summer will bring about more change via the trade market for the Sabres as they continue their rebuild.
One key for the Sabres will be finding partners as they search for options to swap out certain players. There have been specific mentions of the need to find more offense from media members in Vancouver, Los Angeles, St. Louis and Nashville. These came from either interviews or game broadcasts on the NHL Network station on XM Radio. Obviously these aren’t confirmed rumors, but the need for more established offensive weapons on certain teams isn’t a difficult conclusion to draw.
Vancouver’s second-straight first round exit have some asking if they need offensive help.
Vancouver’s sweep at the hands of the Sharks has many asking if Alain Vig...

Am I the only one who misses playoff hockey in Buffalo? It's not often one can wear shorts heading into the First Niagara Center with a hockey game to go to. Once again, it’s time to dissect more of Darcy Regier’s career.
After analyzing Darcy Regier’s trade deadline moves in Part One, I decided to dig right into the main portion and look through his success in the NHL draft, which has been a mixed bag for Darcy Regier. Buffalo Sabres fans are likely torn on whether Regier and his scouts have been successful in the draft during his tenure. Before we determine that though, we need to decide what exactly can be measured as a success in a league where we can’t judge drafts until at least five years afterwards.

It's always hard to watch the playoffs as a Buffalonian if the Sabres aren't in them. It's even harder if all of the Sabres' division rivals are in it; not only that, but they were all matched up against each other. It's hard to root for anyone in games when you strongly dislike both teams that are playing.
Yet that's not always the case - if the 2013 NHL playoffs have taught us anything, its that there are certain teams in our division that we dislike more than others.
Buffalo is supposed to hate Toronto. They are the closest team geographically, their fans pack our arena when we play them, and we always hear stories about angry run-ins with their fans. Many a

The Boston Bruins narrowly escaped a first round elimination at the hands of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Milan Lucic deserves a lot of credit for powering the Bruins. The big Bruins power-forward took a lot of crap for his play throughout the season and in large part during the first round. But when the chips were down and the Bruins needed someone to step up Milan Lucic did just that.
When the Bruins hoisted the Stanley Cup in 2011, players like Milan Lucic and Brad Marchand really provided the spark the team needed. They scored timely goals and drove opponents up the wall. Lucic has been “off his game” so far this season which isn’t good for the Bruins, but thankfully the playoffs are a whole different story.

Despite at one point holding a 2-0 series lead, and chances to close it out in Games 6 and 7, the Capitals floundered and lost the series, 5-0, in Game 7 to the New York Rangers.
In 2007-08, the team lost Game 7 in Round One to the Philadelphia Flyers. In 2008-09, the Caps lost Game 7 in Round Two to the Pittsburgh Penguins.
