CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- Ryan Arrowood baffled Oklahoma on two hits for 7 2/3 innings and Appalachian State held off a rally by the Sooners in the ninth to win 5-4 in the Mountaineers' first NCAA tournament appearance in 26 years.
Arrowood (11-0) had a no-hitter for 6 1/3 innings before Max White's single to center. He allowed one run, struck out nine and walked three. Closer Nathan Hyatt escaped a jam in the eighth, but he and Ryne Frankoff struggled to finish it in the ninth.
