Patriots coach Bill Belichick has addressed Jerry York's Boston College hockey team twice over the last seven years, with the most recent time coming last Tuesday. York credited Belichick's motivational words for helping his club capture the Hockey East regular-season title on Saturday.
The connection between Belichick and York is detailed in a piece now posted on ESPNBoston.com
" ... it began seven years ago when former BC football coach Tom O'Brien introduced them. Since that time, York said he's regularly received notes from Belichick whenever the Eagles won a big game or a championship, the letters often mentioning a trait Belichick noticed from watching the team play."
Belichick's visits to campus have left an indelible impression on players, such as the time seven years ago when he talked about the importance of execution by using a unique example -- Wile E. Coyote vs. the Road Runner.
This year, Belichick shared his thoughts on the challenge of repeating as champions, something BC is attempting to do.
