Bye week coming at good time for Hokies

*No. 12 Virginia Tech is off this Saturday. Hokies coach Frank Beamer said he’s giving his players some time off this week before starting preparation for their next game at No. 22 Georgia Tech on Thursday, Nov. 10.

The team will meet on Wednesday to go over the Duke game and put together the game plan for the Yellow Jackets, and it will practice on Thursday and Friday. Game week preparation will begin on Saturday.

*The Hokies and Yellow Jackets will both have 12 days between their last games and their Nov. 10 matchup at Bobby Dodd Stadium. Beamer said he likes having such a big layoff, because that will give Virginia Tech more time to prepare for Georgia Tech’s unique triple-option offense.

“I think
