Virginia Tech junior cornerback Jayron Hosley could miss Saturday’s game against Boston College with the sprained left hamstring he suffered last week in practice.
If Hosley can’t go, redshirt freshman Detrick Bonner will likely take his place. The 6-foot, 189-pound Bonner said he has been preparing this week like he is the starter.
“It’s a different mindset,” said Bonner, who replaced Hosley in the first quarter of last Saturday’s win at Wake Forest and recorded eight tackles in his first significant playing time on defense. “I know I’m more focused now, knowing I’ve got to play and stuff.”
Good thing, because after practice Tuesday, Hosley didn’t seem confident he’d be able to return this week.
