Baylor announced Tuesday that former Oregon running back Lache Seastrunk has signed with the Bears. Baylor is right up I-35 from Seastruck’s hometown of Temple, Texas. The Bears’ offense is one that features a zone blocking scheme and a lot of plays in the run game that do what Seastrunk does best -- play in space.
He is not going to be a physical load carrier between the tackles, nor will he be a high carry back, but when utilized on the perimeter he can be dangerous due to his speed, quickness and penchant for making people miss in space.
He is excellent on jet sweeps and play where he can cut back against the grain or extend the play to the perimeter. How quickly he acclimates to the offense and proves capable of handling X’s and O’s will ultimately determine how quickly he will make an impact once eligible.
