The Atlanta Falcons today announced that defensive tackle Peria Jerry has decided to retire from the NFL.

Jerry, 29, was considered to be one of the best defensive tackles in the 2009 draft class, which led to the Falcons using their No. 24 overall pick on him.
He signed a one-year contract with the Falcons worth $890,000 back in March.
Jerry spent all five years of his career with the Falcons and totaled 51 tackles, 5.5 sacks, a forced fumbles and two recoveries over the course 64 games.
