Wake Forest's magic ride came to a screeching halt today at North Carolina.

The Tar Heels outplayed the Deacs on both sides of the ball, and handed Wake Forest its second conference loss of the season. UNC quarterback Bryn Renner played an outstanding game, completing 21 of 28 passes for 338 yards and three touchdowns. It was an uncharacteristic performance by Wake, which had five turnovers, including three interceptions from quarterback Tanner Price.
The loss doesn't deem Wake Forest irrelevant in the Atlantic Division race, but it does further distance Clemson from the rest of the pack. It's still too early to deem Clemson the division winner -- especially with tonight's game at Georgia Tech still on the line. But it takes away some of the impact of the Deacs' game against Clemson next month. As for UNC, they're not out of the Coastal Division race, but they're not exactly in it, either. They're stuck behind Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech, but they're now bowl eligible and still have a shot at the Hokies in November.
