‘Free’ advice for Colts’ Andrew Luck

On the first day of training camp at Anderson University, Colts outside linebacker/defensive end Dwight Freeney thought it important to talk with rookie quarterback Andrew Luck. As Freeney admitted later, he didn’t say anything that the smart newcomer didn’t already know. It was more about reassuring the Colts’ No. 1 overall pick last April. “I just basically told him, ‘You’re not out here by yourself,’” Freeney said. “I understand there’s a lot of pressure that goes into the No. 1 overall pick and stuff, but you don’t have throw that all on your shoulders and think that you have to lift up this team. Just do your job.” Freeney, like so many others, has been impressed by Luck, his maturity and willingness to learn.
