UNC redshirt freshman tailback Giovani Bernard has scored eight rushing touchdowns through six games. Last season, Johnny White led the team with seven rushing touchdowns. Needless to say, there’s been an upgrade this year in the Tar Heels’ running game.
Bernard leads all freshman runners in the country with 109.5 yards per game. Overall, he ranks third in the league and 19th in the country. Bernard has rushed for 100 yards in four straight games. The last UNC player to rush for more than 100 yards in four straight games was Ethan Horton, who accomplished the feat in five straight in 1984.
