DURHAM, N.C. - Virginia Tech kicker Cody Journell did not make the trip for the Hokies' 14-10 win against Duke on Saturday after re-aggravating a quad injury to his kicking leg late in the week.

The sophomore had come on strong after a slow first month, going 6-for-6 in October. But the Hokies decided Friday not to bring him to Duke, opting instead to use senior transfer Tyler Weiss as a place-kicker in short field goal situations and Justin Myer, the kickoff specialist, in long ones.
