SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Jonathan Sanchez is making slow progress in his rehab from a sprained foot but the Giants' left-hander is hopeful of pitching again this season.
A day after manager Bruce Bochy hinted the pitcher might be done for the year, Sanchez acknowledged his recovery hasn't gone as quickly as he hoped and said he has a persistent pain on the top of his right foot.
Though he's still appears to be a long way from returning to the mound, Sanchez said he plans to pitch again this year.
"I'm going to try to throw again before the season end," Sanchez said Monday before the Giants' home game against the Chicago Cubs.
