Virginia Tech starting linebacker Jeron Gouveia-Winslow will miss the rest of the season after suffering a Lisfranc sprain in his left foot in the first quarter of Saturday’s win over Miami.
The Hokies will also be without starting defensive end James Gayle for Saturday night’s game at Wake Forest. He sprained his ankle in the first quarter against the Hurricanes and is not expected to travel with the team to Winston-Salem, N.C.
Tech has lost two defensive starters for the season in its last two games. In addition to Gouveia-Winslow, defensive tackle Antoine Hopkins tore the ACL in his right knee in the fourth quarter of the Hokies’ home loss to Clemson on Oct. 1.
