It didn’t come as easy as the 9-1 final would indicate. Most of the proceedings were more tense than that, as it was still a two-run game as late as the middle of the sixth inning. Luckily for us, Army couldn’t stop beating themselves on the hill — their five hit batsmen and five walks combined for more baserunners than we achieved with our bats (eight hits) — and we managed to get enough hits after their miscues (Cogswell’s huge three-run double in the sixth followed a hit batsmen, a single, and a walk) to put the game away.
