Jon Daniels ready to move on, improve team

Cliff Lee called Rangers general manager Jon Daniels on Monday night to let him know he wasn't coming to Texas. For Daniels, it means one part of the offseason is over and he can turn his attention to other things.
"We're disappointed but now we can move on and look at other ways to improve the team," Daniels said. "We still have every expectation to win this year. It's hard to take fault with Cliff's decision when he chooses a spot that he and his family are comfortable, have a chance to win. He was a part of the most successful team in club history, to this point, and we thank him for his role here."
Plan B could include trading for either Kansas City's Zack Greinke or Tampa Bay's Matt Garza. And it also will likely include looking into the other free agents on the market. Now that Lee is signed, those agents should start having some more conversations. We'll talk more about that in the coming days.
