Linebacker Kellen Jones, who left the University of Michigan last month after signing with the Wolverines in February, has enrolled at Oklahoma and is expected to join the Sooner football team.
Jones, rated as the No. 35 outside linebacker by ESPN Recruiting coming out of St. Pius X High School in Houston, was recruited by Arkansas, Illinois, Miami, Missouri and Stanford, among others.
But the 6-foot-1, 225-pound Jones chose to go to OU, largely because of the relationship he developed with Sooner defensive coordinator Brent Venables during the recruiting process.
Jones is expected to be eligible this season, and will have four seasons of eligibility.
At Big Ten media days, Wolverines coach Brady Hoke declined to give a reason when asked why Jones had decided to leave Michigan.
“He’s just not enrolled at the school,” Hoke said.
