Minnesota Gophers add Ohio State football transfer

Former four-star offensive lineman Brian Bobek will transfer from Ohio State to Minnesota, according to the Columbus Dispatch.
Bobek, a 6-foot-2, 275-pound Illinois native, announced his decision Saturday, June 16. After playing a reserve role as a freshman last season for the Buckeyes, Bobek was expected to compete for the starting center spot this season. But he ended spring practice No. 3 on the depth chart.
Out of Fremd High School in Palatine, Ill., Bobek was the nation’s No. 1 center prospect in 2011, according to Scout.com.
Bobek will lose a year of eligibility after transferring within the conference. He will be eligible to play in 2013.
