Panthers put Wharton on IR, he makes 14

The Panthers moved their injured reserve list to 14, by placing G Travelle Wharton on IR along with DE Everette Brown and LB Jason Williams. Wharton's been down with a turf toe problem, and didn't appear likely to come back anytime soon. To fill their roster spots, the Panthers promoted Dt Corvey Irvin and CB R.J. Stanford from the practice squad.  They still have one spot left on the 53-man roster, which they'll likely fill today. They also signed DT Tommie Duhart to the practice squad. The 6-foot-4, 330-pounder transferred from Pitt to Valdosta State for his senior year. He recently worked out for Seattle.  The Panthers have another practice squad spot open as well.
