Daniel Bard admitted after his latest start – a 1 2/3-inning, five-run, six-walk disaster – that the work in progress that has been the pitcher becoming a starter might have involved a bit too much work, and not quite enough progress.
“If anything, it’s that I allowed something to happen when I switched roles,” Bard told reporters after the Red Sox’ 5-1 loss to the Blue Jays Sunday when asked about if he had any regrets in approaching his switch from reliever to starter.
