MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota Twins right-handed starter Nick Blackburn has left the game against the New York Yankees in the second inning with a lateral forearm strain in his pitching arm.
Blackburn gave up a hit in the first inning, then walked the bases loaded in the second before Twins trainer Dave Pruemer came out to check on him.
Minnesota manager Ron Gardenhire joined them on the mound shortly after, and Blackburn walked to the dugout.
Right-hander Anthony Swarzak was called into emergency duty.
Blackburn needed 49 pitches to get through just 1 1-3 innings before he left.
