At least one of Virginia Tech's walking wounded on the defensive side of the ball is optimistic about making it back for Saturday's game against Boston College, but another injured defensive starter isn't so sure.
Defensive end James Gayle, a Bethel High graduate, wore a blue jersey (indicating limited participation) in practice Tuesday along with cornerback Jayron Hosley, wide receiver D.J. Coles and left guard Greg Nosal. Gayle, who didn't travel with the team to last Saturday's 38-17 win at Wake Forest due to a sprained left ankle sustained against Miami, said he's improving and hopes to be back for the BC game.
