With junior Antoine Hopkins out for the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, Virginia Tech is about to learn just how far some of its young defensive tackles have progressed in the early season.
Hopkins, a 6-foot-1, 306-pound junior starter from Highland Springs High in Highland Springs, suffered the injury in Saturday night's 23-3 loss to Clemson. He'll have surgery Friday in Blacksburg to repair the injury.
