This is the ultimate question Falcons’ fans have been asking me throughout the past week.
Here is my own personal opinion on the matter:
Atlanta will not be trading up this year for anyone other than the defensive end from USC.
I do believe for one moment Atlanta would trade up for a tackle that they could get at #6, or at least one with similar attributes. Atlanta can get a great player if they sit at number six, but they know one of those players has little chance to slip past the teams ahead of them. Clowney is a once in a decade talent, the Falcons know that. That is why he visited multiple times with the team, he performed on their “explosion scale” after declining to do any more workouts. Clowney is the intended target of a Falcons’ Draft Day trade.
