Turns out Virginia Tech’s 23-3 loss Saturday night to Clemson was worse than the Hokies thought.
Tech announced Sunday that starting defensive tackle Antoine Hopkins, a fourth-year junior from Highland Springs High, will miss the rest of the season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during the game. This was Hopkins’ second year as a starter.
He is Tech’s first starter this year to sustain a season-ending injury. The coaches will determine his replacement this week. The second-string tackles are true freshmen Luther Maddy and Corey Marshall (Dinwiddie). In the first four games, Maddy played 82 snaps, Marshall 81 – half as many as the starters.
